Accountabilities
- Develop, maintain, and enhance COBOL/CICS applications to support critical business requirements.
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues across enterprise operating environments and computer systems.
- Perform system administration activities, including installation, configuration, maintenance, backup, recovery, and file management tasks.
- Support software upgrades, testing processes, technical configurations, and resolution of system-related problems.
- Develop and maintain JCL procedures, control statements, and batch processing workflows.
- Work with mainframe tools and technologies including TSO, SPF, VSAM, DB2, IMS DB, and related utilities.
- Perform debugging activities using tools such as ABEND-AID or equivalent solutions to identify and resolve application issues.
- Manage and maintain software licensing, maintenance agreements, and system operational requirements.
- Contribute to software development lifecycle activities using structured methodologies such as Waterfall or Agile.
- Independently manage high-visibility and mission-critical assignments while collaborating with technical teams and stakeholders.
- Provide technical guidance and support to assigned resources when required.
- 10+ years of professional experience developing and programming with COBOL/CICS.
- Extensive experience reading, writing, and maintaining COBOL programs.
- Strong experience with JCL, including procedures (PROCS), batch processing, and control statements.
- Advanced knowledge of TSO/SPF navigation and functionality.
- Experience working with mainframe databases and file structures, including VSAM, DB2, and Oracle.
- Knowledge of IMS DB, SQL, PL/SQL, and IBM or third-party utilities such as SORT and IEBGENER.
- Experience troubleshooting and debugging applications using ABEND-AID or similar tools.
- Familiarity with ChangeMan source management software is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of File-Aid and VSAM file processing is preferred.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel; familiarity with Outlook is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a technical team.
- Experience supporting software development lifecycle processes.
- A degree in a related field is preferred; equivalent professional experience may be considered.
