EPE is seeking a technically driven and strategically minded Director, Grid Resilience Services to establish, coordinate and lead a grid resilience consulting services offering that strengthens and augments EPE’s Utilities’ consulting services. The ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of electric utility resilience frameworks, utility planning and operations, grid modernization, risk assessment, and the technical, regulatory, and market drivers that influence resilience investments across the power sector. In addition, the ideal candidate should have an understanding of business development and sales principles, catering specifically to utility clients, their business model and their needs. The ideal candidate should have the ability to establish relationships with IOU utilities, RTO, ISO, electric cooperatives and municipalities across North America and ideally with national laboratories, DOE, NARUC, and other relevant industry stakeholders. As a key leadership team member, the candidate will be instrumental in transforming internal and disparate resilience-related offerings that EPE has today into scalable client-facing services, aligning service offerings and product development with market needs and the evolving resilience landscape. This position reports to the EVP of Utilities.
Responsibilities

Industry Leadership and External Engagement
- Monitor and assess the evolving grid resilience landscape across utilities, regulators, federal agencies, research institutions, and industry organizations.
- Work with EPE leadership and external stakeholders to help shape industry thinking around resilience definitions, metrics, and evaluation frameworks.
- Engage with clients, DOE, national laboratories, NARUC, and other relevant bodies to advance practical approaches for resilience assessment and decision-making.
- Represent EPE in strategic industry forums, workshops, working groups, and thought leadership initiatives.
- Develop EPE’s perspective on resilience metrics analogous to established reliability frameworks, while recognizing the technical and regulatory complexity of resilience measurement.
Market Analysis and Service Line Development
- Perform structured market analysis to identify resilience-related client needs, competitive offerings, whitespace opportunities, and adjacent market segments.
- Assess which resilience products and services EPE should develop, refine, or expand based on market demand, technical fit, and growth potential.
- Identify priority offerings across advisory, planning, analytics, compliance, grid modernization, DER/microgrid resilience, emergency preparedness, hardening, restoration strategy, and related domains as appropriate.
- Evaluate competitor positioning, customer pain points, procurement trends, and partnership opportunities that inform EPE’s go-to-market strategy.
Technical Strategy and Capability Design
- Work with EPE leaders to define the technical approach, delivery model, and operating structure for resilience services.
- Identify required internal subject matter expertise, staffing needs, capability gaps, and resource priorities.
- Recommend strategic partnerships, subcontractor relationships, technology collaborators, and potential acquisition targets where needed to accelerate capability buildout.
- Help define methodologies, tools, frameworks, and quality standards that will underpin EPE’s resilience offerings.
- Collaborate across engineering, commercial, and leadership teams to ensure offerings are technically credible, differentiated, and scalable.
Business Development and Growth Planning
- Develop a 12–18 month roadmap to establish market presence, generate qualified pipeline, and convert opportunities into booked and won work.
- Create an execution plan that aligns business development, thought leadership, client engagement, partnerships, and solution development activities.
- Support opportunity identification, strategic pursuits, proposal positioning, and client relationship development tied to resilience services.
- Establish milestones, leading indicators, and commercial priorities that support meaningful revenue growth.
Long-Term Business Planning
- Lead development of a 5-year business model for EPE’s resilience practice in collaboration with peers and leadership.
- Define growth scenarios, capability investments, organizational implications, service evolution, and commercialization priorities.
- Recommend how resilience offerings should scale across markets, client segments, and adjacent solution areas.
- Support leadership decision-making with clear business cases, investment rationale, and strategic options.
Outreach, Communication and Value Capture
- Work with subject matter experts to develop white papers, technical reports and presentations to communicate EPE’s Grid Resilience services and offerings in support of industry needs.
- Work with marketing to position EPE’s existing and emerging capabilities and support go-to-market strategy for EPE’s comprehensive service offerings.
Qualifications
Bring your passion, here's what’s needed:
12+ years of experience in the electric power sector including experience in resilience planning, reliability planning, regulatory compliance, regulatory utility needs, transmission and distribution planning
Proven track record of successful R&D
Proven track record of launching successful technical services
Proven ability to lead technical and sales teams
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Independent critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
Team player skills with ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent business, and technical writing.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
