Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Environmental Aide, you'll clean and maintain assigned areas of the hospital in a sanitary, orderly, and attractive condition to promote a clean and healthy environment for all employees, patients, and guests in accordance with departmental standards.Every day you will adhere to proper disposal techniques for biohazard materials, including bodily fluids or sharp objects. You will apply specialized cleaning techniques to designated rooms and equipment, replenish supplies such as soap, paper towels, and tissues, and deliver clean linens to patient rooms.You will be successful in this role if you consistently maintain high standards of cleanliness and infection control while following safety protocols and departmental guidelines. Success also depends on reliability, attention to detail, flexibility to take on additional tasks, timely reporting of maintenance issues, and a proactive approach to responding to emergencies and supporting a safe, healthy environment for patients and staff.

  • Applies efficient and safe use of housekeeping equipment and solutions in order to facilitate smooth departmental operations.
  • Cleans all areas using cleaning procedures as outlined in the orientation and department policy and procedure manual which includes, using appropriate solutions for cleaning and disinfecting appropriate areas and cleaning discharge rooms to zero defects .
  • Handles chemicals and solutions per departmental/MSDS standards with no more than one incident of error noted annually which includes ensuring all chemicals are in properly labeled containers and uses each chemical for its intended use.
  • Notifies departmental management of any equipment needing repair or any unsafe conditions in a timely manner.
  • Cleans assigned carts and equipment daily, ensuring all items are consistently returned in an orderly fashion.
  • Replenishes departmental supplies which includes ensuring supplies are stocked and readily available.

Job Requirements

Required

  • High School Diploma/GED 
  • One year recent work experience

Preferred

  • Previous housekeeping experience particularly in a health care setting
