Accountabilities:
- Develop engineering solutions for complex technical challenges involving reactor servicing tools, inspection equipment, and remote handling systems.
- Design and support the development of remotely operated, automated, robotic, and tele-operated equipment used in nuclear operating environments.
- Prepare, review, and verify engineering documentation, including reports, system descriptions, specifications, drawings, calculations, and design documents.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure equipment interfaces meet functional, performance, and safety requirements.
- Work with component design teams to integrate reactor servicing tools with related systems and structures.
- Partner with systems engineering and operations teams to develop work sequences, handling plans, and integrated equipment strategies.
- Support the development and maintenance of engineering standards, procedures, and technical criteria.
- Assist with planning and execution of complex engineering projects, including evaluating alternative approaches to achieve project objectives.
- Support procurement activities related to equipment design, fabrication, and testing.
- Apply engineering best practices to solve technical issues and support continuous improvement.
- Manage assigned workload, priorities, and deadlines effectively.
- Promote strong safety culture and compliance with applicable quality assurance standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited university; ABET accreditation preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional engineering experience.
- Experience applying engineering design processes for mechanical handling equipment and systems.
- Experience preparing, reviewing, and validating mechanical design documentation.
- Prior experience working in a nuclear operating environment is preferred.
- Knowledge of equipment design, mechanical systems, and engineering analysis methods.
- Ability to develop creative solutions to complex technical problems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities with the ability to interpret and produce complex technical information.
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively across engineering disciplines.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a changing environment.
- Commitment to safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
- Eligibility to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810 requirements.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license in Mechanical, Electrical, or Nuclear Engineering is desirable.
- Ability to travel as required.
- Target annual pay range of $108,908–$131,441, with a full pay range of $97,642–$152,722 depending on experience, skills, education, and other factors.
