Accountabilities:
- Design and develop middle school math lessons aligned with a mastery-based instructional model, ensuring clarity, rigor, and strong pedagogical structure.
- Set and enforce a high quality bar for all math content, evaluating accuracy, alignment to learning science, and classroom usability.
- Translate expert teaching practices into explicit, replicable instructional sequences, including examples, scaffolds, and misconceptions.
- Leverage AI tools to accelerate content creation while applying strong instructional judgment to refine and validate outputs.
- Build instructional materials that support students who are behind grade level, incorporating prerequisite activation and structured scaffolding.
- Collaborate closely with product leadership and engineering teams to align instructional design with platform capabilities and tools.
- Contribute to the evolution of scope, sequence, and curriculum design standards across the middle school math program.
- Extensive experience as an outstanding middle school math teacher, with a proven record of improving student outcomes and closing learning gaps.
- Deep mastery of middle school mathematics and strong understanding of how concepts build toward algebra readiness.
- Strong grounding in the science of learning and its application to instructional design and curriculum development.
- Proven experience designing math curriculum, lessons, units, or full programs for use by other educators.
- Ability to make implicit teaching strategies explicit, structured, and reproducible for broader use.
- Comfort using AI tools in instructional design workflows, with strong editorial judgment to evaluate and refine outputs.
- Highly self-directed, organized, and effective in fast-paced, autonomous environments requiring ownership end-to-end.
- Passion for continuous learning in both mathematics education and emerging instructional technologies.
- Competitive salary range of $150,000–$175,000 annually.
