What You Will Do:
- Inspect product as certified representative of the customer and inspects product at all phases including; Incoming from suppliers, in-process checks, FAIR’s, IOS updates, and Final Inspection for conformity to ensure the quality and integrity of the material and assemblies are produced to meet drawing specifications, tolerances, corporate procedures and customer requirements. May inspect product as a customer source or FAA delegate.
- Serves as primary training coordinator for main discipline in all areas of the plant including support of aftermarket business as required by the business.
- Prepare to inspect by interpreting blueprints, data, and manuals to determine specifications, inspections and testing procedures.
- Review paperwork to ensure completion and accuracy of all documents including routers, flow card, First Articles, etc.
- Inspect internal processes and product to verify conformance to specification of the parts by measuring dimensions using instruments such as gages, calipers, comparators, micrometers, CMM etc.
- Perform visual inspection on parts utilizing IOS books and PowerPoint slides (Source files) associated with the part to ensure produce conformance.
- Create first piece sheets and perform first pieces for Operators by inspecting work in progress.
- Create, update, and maintain IOS books and First articles.
- Fill out paperwork (electronic and paper) such as turnback forms, inspection or test data, and entering all part transactions into SAP.
- Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems to improve COPQ, OTD and costs.
- Follow up with overall support staff (engineer, buyer/planner, customer service) and drive resolution of production issues.
- Monitor daily production and minimize errors in the process, empowered to help troubleshoot issues and provide guidance to operators.
- Ensure optimum usage of available resources and technology to achieve goals.
- Collaborate with leadership and gains peers support to achieve daily operations and goals
- Support and drive continuous improvement deployment using the fundamentals of lean, lean daily management, six sigma, and employee involvement.
- Collaborate with training manager and conduct employee training on equipment operations, work, safety, procedures, paperwork, Quality Management System, etc. and provide continuous mentorship of new and current employees, Responsibility for performing process audits of employees to ensure employees are retaining skills, training knowledge and providing information to their leader to build overall team bench strength.
- Support and follow all rules/guidelines/standards set by EHS, Quality, and CI functions as set by your leader and position.
- Over 40 hours per week as scheduled to meet business needs.
- All other duties as assigned including working extended shifts/overtime as required by the business.
Qualifications We Require
- Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D in the US) or vocational/technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience
- 4+ years progressive inspection experience.
- 6+ years in a progressive manufacturing environment preferred.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Advanced proficiency in shop math, geometry, and algebra.
- Advanced proficiency with detailed drawings including geometric tolerances, dimensions, general features and blueprint reading.
- Moderate proficiency with computer skills (E-mail, internet, basic MS office including excel).
- Advanced proficiency in verbal, written and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees and management.
- Advanced proficiency utilizing all gaging.
- Advanced proficiency in reading CMM reports.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Repairman license or AMP license if required by the business.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Advanced knowledge of inspection gages and tools
- Advanced knowledge of the Quality Management System, including internal requirements and procedures.
- Advanced knowledge of manufacturing knowledge including the techniques, tools, and principles and processes involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees and management.
