Overview

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation, Business Operations, the Coordinator of Campus Recreation, Marketing/Staff Development position is responsible for the overall presentation of Campus Recreation to the campus community and beyond, while also organizing events and trainings for all levels of staff within the department. This includes marketing across various mediums, management of the Marketing Team, and event planning, as well as providing customer service to patrons. This position supports all areas of Campus Recreation as needed, and is a hub for Campus Recreation operations.

 

Princeton University Campus Recreation seeks to improve the health and well-being of the University community through the core principles of fitness and wellness, healthy competition, lifelong skill development, and community-building. These guiding principles aim to improve the quality of life on campus and strengthen the ties between and among undergraduates, graduate students, faculty/staff, and community. Campus Recreation provides educational and leadership opportunities through instructional programs, intramural activities, sport club teams, and student employment for diverse levels of skill and ability.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop marketing strategies for Campus Recreation. Collaborates with all areas to create effective marketing campaigns that highlight the recreation experience for students, faculty and staff.
  • Hire, train, and supervise a student Marketing Team that will create publications including brochures, flyers, announcements, newsletters, social media and handbooks.
  • Ensure the design and development of promotional and programmatic materials maintain a cohesive message and meets department and University branding standards.
  • Responsible for the content and maintenance of the Campus Recreation website.
  • Organize procurement of departmental promotional purchases.
  • Compile data, evaluates and reports on marketing and staff development efforts to assess effectiveness and makes recommendations for improvement.
  • Oversee production of Campus Recreation’s End of Year Report, as well as various surveys.
  • Maintain/update the Marketing Manual.
  • Coordinate and use various platforms to organize projects and workflows for the Marketing Team.
  • Direct the development, administration and evaluation of all staff development programs and initiatives for the department including: TeamRec staff orientation sessions, SEE Workshops, and professional development for full-time employees.
  •  Plan and conduct department-wide special events, which may include departmental retreats, TeamRec gatherings, and alumni events.
  • Utilize various platforms to keep professional staff organized regarding the management and training of their staff.
  • Provide excellent customer service in the Campus Recreation office to all patrons through being a knowledgeable source of information about all areas.
  • Have a strong understanding of the Business Office policies and procedures as well as the Fusion registration system.
  • Act as support and a back up to the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation, Business Operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required
  • 1-3 years of related experience
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Highly organized and able to multi-task
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certification
  • Knowledge of the digital and social landscapes and ability to generate successful social content; must be active in social media
  • Ability to create promotional materials that effectively attracts the target audience in a clear and concise manner preferred
