Job Function

This position supervises pharmacy technicians, technician trainees, and supportive personnel and supports pharmacy leadership in directing technical and operational functions of the pharmacy. The incumbent provides leadership, education, training, and guidance for pharmacy caregivers and supportive personnel. The incumbent participates in the hiring, onboarding, scheduling, evaluation, and performance management of pharmacy technicians. The incumbent prepares schedules and organizes technician coverage to ensure departmental needs are consistently met. This position ensures excellence in the technical aspects of pharmacy practice.

Essential Functions

  • Lead and manage a team of pharmacy technicians, providing daily operational direction, coaching, and support.
  • Oversee hiring, onboarding, scheduling, performance management, and technician coverage to ensure operational needs are consistently met.
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations, accreditation standards, organizational policies, and pharmacy procedures.
  • Drive quality, patient safety, and process improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and service excellence.
  • Monitor prescription fulfillment operations to ensure medications, information, and services are delivered accurately, professionally, and in a timely manner.

Qualifications

  •  High School or equivalent is required
  • Current pharmacy technician certification or license applicable to state of practice.

- and -

  • Pharmacy technician certification (CPhT) through PTCB or EXCPT or other certifying board and successful registration/certification/licensure with the state of practice as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (not "in-training" or "provisional")
  • Current knowledge of state and federal regulations and statutes regarding the practice of pharmacy and the distribution of approved drugs, controlled substances, and investigational agents (where applicable).

  • Must have 3 years of experience working as a pharmacy technician.

Any lapse or failure to meet these requirements may result in disciplinary action, up to termination, at the hiring manager's discretion.

Preferred

  • 2 years of leadership experience
  • Broad retail pharmacy experience and hands-on knowledge of pharmacy fulfillment automation systems such as Parata Max, PillPack, or related platforms.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience. 

$30.36 - $46.22
