Accountabilities:
- Leading hardware architecture design in collaboration with component suppliers, external design partners, and internal engineering teams.
- Creating product-level technical specifications covering performance requirements, functionality, and engineering expectations.
- Reviewing hardware designs, including schematics, PCB layouts, and technical documentation, to ensure quality and feasibility.
- Evaluating external design partner validation plans, test results, and engineering approaches while providing technical guidance.
- Developing internal hardware validation plans, coordinating test execution, and analyzing results to drive product improvements.
- Investigating and resolving complex hardware issues by identifying root causes and coordinating solutions across teams.
- Reviewing manufacturing test plans, supporting factory validation activities, and contributing to yield improvement initiatives during production ramp.
- Collaborating with mechanical design, firmware, and other engineering teams to ensure successful product execution throughout the development lifecycle.
- Managing, mentoring, and supporting internal hardware engineers, including direct and cross-functional team members.
- Supporting international manufacturing activities and traveling to external production locations when required.
- Driving engineering excellence through strong documentation, technical analysis, and structured problem-solving.
- 10+ years of experience in hardware design and engineering for consumer products.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required; Master’s degree is considered an asset.
- Proven experience designing and releasing multiple products into mass production, including battery-powered wireless devices.
- Recent hands-on experience in hardware architecture and design activities.
- Strong electrical engineering expertise, including power supply circuits, battery systems, microcontroller designs, audio systems, and EMI considerations.
- Ability to review schematics, PCB layouts, and technical designs while providing detailed engineering feedback.
- Strong skills in technical documentation, specification writing, simulation, test planning, and project coordination.
- Experience managing external engineering partners such as ODMs or design service providers.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor engineers and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience with camera systems, audio design, or Mandarin language skills is considered an asset.
- Willingness to work on-site and travel internationally as required.
