Revolution Medicines is a late-stage clinical oncology company developing novel targeted therapies for patients with RAS-addicted cancers. The company’s R&D pipeline comprises RAS(ON) inhibitors designed to suppress diverse oncogenic variants of RAS proteins. The company’s RAS(ON) inhibitors daraxonrasib (RMC-6236), a RAS(ON) multi-selective inhibitor; elironrasib (RMC-6291), a RAS(ON) G12C-selective inhibitor; zoldonrasib (RMC-9805), a RAS(ON) G12D-selective inhibitor; and RMC-5127, a RAS(ON) G12V-selective inhibitor, are currently in clinical development. As a new member of the Revolution Medicines team, you will join other outstanding professionals in a tireless commitment to patients with cancers harboring mutations in the RAS signaling pathway.

The Opportunity:

Revolution Medicines is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized IP Paralegal to support the Intellectual Property (IP) team as the Department’s first IP Paralegal. This individual contributor role is responsible for managing all aspects of patent and trademark docketing, including intake and review of IP communications, data entry, verification, annuities management, and ongoing docketing platform support. The position serves as the primary liaison between outside counsel docketing teams and the internal IP team, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timeliness across all docketing systems. This role reports to the Vice President, Intellectual Property.  

Responsibilities:

Patent and Trademark Intake and Review

  • Receive and review incoming IP communications from outside counsel via internal mailboxes.

  • Accurately enter all relevant patent and trademark information into the docketing system.

  • Identify, monitor, and track all key dates, deadlines, and required actions associated with each matter.

  • Audit, investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly to maintain data integrity.

  • Establish and maintain alerts, reminders, and workflows for upcoming deadlines and action items.

Communication

  • Coordinate with outside counsel attorneys, paralegals, and docketing staff to ensure timely receipt of documents and accuracy of deadlines.

  • Prepare reports, summaries, and updates for internal team and stakeholder meetings.

  • Follow up on discrepancies, missing information, and outstanding actions as needed.

  • Onboard new IP team members with respect to docketing processes.

Docketing Platform Support

  • Serve as liaison between our docketing platform service provider and the IP team for system support, training, enhancements, and issue resolution.

  • Oversee docketing workflows.

  • Coordinate support from part-time paralegal support as needed, including for backup purposes.

  • Collaborate with the IP team to develop guidance materials supporting docketing platform implementation and maintenance.

  • Participate in all relevant docketing platform training courses.

Annuities Management

  • Provide instructions to our annuity service provider.

  • Ensure patent records are complete and accurate to support timely annuity payments.

  • Review and resolve discrepancy reports.

  • Review and process invoices related to annuity payments.

  • Coordinate with outside counsel as needed regarding annuity payments and deadlines.

In-House Filing Workflow Development and Transition

  • Design and implement workflows to support transitioning IP filings in-house.

  • Develop standardized guidance documents and filing instructions for law firms.

  • File U.S. provisional, non-provisional, and PCT applications with the USPTO.

  • Manage U.S. applications from filing through prosecution and issuance.

  • Prepare and file responses to Missing Parts Notices, Office Actions, and issue fee payments.

  • Report filings to outside counsel as appropriate.

  • Establish and maintain funds for the USPTO deposit account.

  • Record executed assignments with the appropriate authorities.

Patent and Trademark File Organization

  • Develop and maintain a structured filing system within existing company systems for patent and trademark records.

  • Evaluate alternative document management systems as appropriate.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Research, evaluate and implement AI-assisted tools to enhance efficiencies across all paralegal activities, such as automated deadline and date entry.

  • Procure formal documents (e.g., assignments, powers of attorney, declarations).

  • Oversee various post-patent issuance procedures.

  • Maintain certain trackers as requested by the IP Department.

Responsibilities may change over time based on organizational priorities, business growth, process improvements, technology implementations, and evolving legal or regulatory requirements.  For example, the IP Paralegal will be expected to evaluate if additional FTE or part-time temp work is appropriate.

The successful candidate will demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to contribute beyond the core responsibilities of the position, partnering collaboratively across functions to support the continued success and growth of the company.

Required Skills, Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in patent, trademark and annuities processes and management.

  • Hands-on experience with various docketing systems and annuity management.

  • Knowledge of basic domestic and foreign patent and trademark office processes.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with sound data driven decision-making ability.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.

  • An innovative team-player with capacity to be effective in a growing company environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology companies.

  • Big pharma experience a plus.
