Job Summary and Responsibilities
As a Specimen Management Supervisor, you will lead and oversee all aspects of specimen handling, processing, and logistics, ensuring accuracy and integrity for diagnostic samples. Your role is critical for maintaining high quality and efficiency in the laboratory's pre-analytical phase.Every day you will manage your team in specimen collection, labeling, preparation, and distribution, ensuring adherence to regulatory guidelines and protocols. You will also resolve operational challenges, optimize workflows, and maintain equipment functionality.To be successful, you will exhibit exceptional leadership, a deep understanding of laboratory operations, and strong regulatory compliance in specimen management. Your ability to troubleshoot, improve processes, and maintain meticulous attention to detail will be paramount for diagnostic integrity and efficiency.
- Supervises assigned staff and maintains a staffing pattern in the department to meet the operational needs of the department. Set the standard of quality of work for the department.
- Prepare work schedules and maintain appropriate workforce. Work with HR and Lab Management in the hiring, discipline and dismissal processes.
- Maintain work processes to meet laboratory turnaround times and quality standards.
- Develops and maintains policies, procedures and protocols that are in alignment with hospital guidelines.
- Monitor work performance, identify training opportunities and oversee training of assigned staff. Track training and education, maintain competency & training records of assigned staff.
- Submits performance assessments to manager/director for approval prior to the due date.
Job Requirements
Required
- High School Graduate General Studies and 5 years phlebotomy experience in a clinical laboratory,or
- High School GED General Studies and 5 years phlebotomy experience in a clinical laboratory, and
- Phlebotomy Technician NHCA
Preferred
- Associates Other in a biological science and 3 years phlebotomy experience, or
- Bachelors Other in a biological science and 3 years phlebotomy experience, upon hire
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician, or
- Phlebotomy Technician AMT, or
- Phlebotomy Technician ASCP, or
- Phlebotomy Technician IAPS, or
