Staff Analog/Mixed Signal IC Design Engineer Position:
ADI has an opportunity for a Staff Analog/Mixed Signal IC Design Engineer. The staff design engineer will join ADI's data center infrastructure team responsible for the design and verification of high-speed analog/mixed-signal circuits for ADI's next-generation optical interconnect, and high-speed memory tester products. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge circuits targeting data rates up to 224 Gbps for NRZ, PAM4, LPO, and CPO optical applications, as well as high-speed HBM memory tester applications.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and verify analog/mixed-signal circuits including clock and data recovery (CDR) circuits, high-speed samplers, transimpedance amplifiers (TIAs), equalizers, continuous-time linear equalizers (CTLEs), variable gain amplifiers (VGAs), and output drivers for high-speed NRZ, PAM4, LPO, and CPO optical applications at speeds up to 224 Gbps.
- Design and verify high-speed analog/mixed-signal circuits for HBM memory tester applications.
- Understand CDR/PLL top-level requirements and specifications. Build behavioral models of CDR/PLLs to drive architectural decisions and derive block-level requirements for analog and digital blocks.
- Run top-level mixed-signal simulations and flows to validate system-level performance.
- Run pre-tapeout verification to confirm design meets performance specifications, power, reliability, and timing requirements.
- Define production and bench-level test plans for characterization.
- Work with lab engineers in taking lab measurements to validate IP.
- Review ATE and lab test results to resolve yield issues and drive bug fixes.
- Hold design reviews of blocks to show design meets spec targets and requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including digital design, layout, test, and applications engineers to deliver products from concept through production.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- M.S.E.E. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a focus on analog/mixed-signal IC design, and 8+ years of relevant industry experience; or B.S.E.E. with 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Demonstrated design experience in deep sub-micron CMOS technologies for mixed-signal applications.
- Strong understanding of CDR/PLL top-level requirements, specifications, and behavioral modeling techniques.
- Experience in running top-level mixed-signal simulation flows (e.g., AMS, mixed-mode co-simulation environments).
- Proficiency with Cadence design and verification tools (Virtuoso, Spectre, AMS Designer).
- Experience designing high-speed circuits for data rates of 112 Gbps and above is strongly preferred.
- Experience in the design of high-power DC-DC buck converters for data center applications is a plus.
- Familiarity with layout techniques for high-speed circuits is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
