Accountabilities:
- Develop and implement environmental programs that strengthen permitting outcomes, build community trust, and deliver meaningful environmental benefits.
- Lead environmental due diligence and risk assessments for prospective sites, including evaluations related to wetlands, water resources, floodplains, endangered species, cultural resources, stormwater, air quality, noise, and construction impacts.
- Translate environmental findings into actionable recommendations that inform investment decisions, project timelines, and development strategies.
- Manage environmental investigations and liability reviews, including Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, archaeological reviews, cultural resource assessments, and property-related environmental evaluations.
- Establish environmental standards and oversee compliance across developers, utilities, engineering partners, and other third-party stakeholders.
- Review and audit environmental studies, mitigation plans, and construction practices to ensure alignment with established environmental objectives.
- Develop and manage permitting strategies involving federal, state, and local agencies, including environmental reviews, wetlands approvals, stormwater permits, air and water requirements, and waste management processes.
- Oversee environmental compliance programs during construction and early operations, including stormwater management, spill prevention, hazardous materials, and emerging environmental risks.
- Partner with teams across development, engineering, energy, site selection, and community relations to integrate environmental considerations into every stage of project planning.
- Identify opportunities to improve environmental practices, reduce risk, and create scalable processes for future infrastructure development.
- 8+ years of experience in environmental permitting, infrastructure development, energy, construction, or large-scale project delivery.
- Extensive experience navigating complex federal, state, and local environmental regulatory frameworks.
- Proven ability to manage environmental consultants, developers, contractors, and regulatory agencies across high-visibility projects.
- Strong understanding of how environmental risks impact financial performance, project schedules, and organizational reputation.
- Experience developing practical mitigation strategies that balance compliance requirements with business objectives.
- Knowledge of environmental assessments, permitting processes, construction compliance, and sustainability practices.
- Ability to establish standards, hold partners accountable, and make informed decisions when environmental risks arise.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present complex environmental topics to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Comfortable working independently as an individual contributor while collaborating across multiple teams.
