Accountabilities:
- Provide legal advice on corporate and nonprofit matters, including formation, governance, compliance, employment law (multi-state), contracts, grants, lobbying, and data privacy/security
- Conduct in-depth legal research, analysis, and drafting of legal memoranda, agreements, and policy guidance
- Support clients in navigating complex regulatory environments affecting healthcare access and nonprofit operations
- Maintain strong, responsive, and trusted relationships with client organizations
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments relevant to reproductive healthcare and tax-exempt organizations
- Conduct intake interviews with prospective clients and assess legal needs
- Represent the program at conferences, convenings, and external speaking engagements
- (Senior Counsel) Supervise and mentor junior attorneys, fellows, and interns, as needed
- Contribute to a collaborative internal culture aligned with organizational mission and values
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) or equivalent law degree
- Active license to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction and good standing with the bar
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as in-house counsel or external counsel for tax-exempt organizations, or equivalent experience advising nonprofit clients
- Strong knowledge of nonprofit law, corporate governance, employment law (multi-state), contracts, data privacy, and regulatory compliance
- Experience with or commitment to reproductive health, rights, and justice strongly preferred
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills with the ability to simplify complex issues
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and perform effectively under pressure
- Excellent communication skills with diverse stakeholders and clients
- High attention to detail and sound legal judgment in evolving regulatory contexts
- (Senior Counsel) At least 2 years of supervisory or mentoring experience is preferred
- Competitive salary based on experience and role level
- Legal Counsel (5–6 years’ experience): approximately $133,242
- Senior Counsel (7–8 years’ experience): approximately $152,549
