The Global Packaging Manager is responsible for developing and executing the global sourcing and category strategy for packaging materials across Beckman Coulter Diagnostics. This role drives cost, quality, service, innovation, sustainability, risk management and supply chain continuity outcomes by partnering cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, R&D, Planning, and Supplier Quality to optimize the end-to-end packaging supply base in support of business growth and operational excellence.
This position is part of the Global Strategic Procurement team working remotely to ensure a resilient, competitive, and compliant global packaging supply base that supports product availability worldwide.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Develop and execute global category strategies for primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging materials aligned to business, cost, quality, and supply continuity objectives.
- Lead supplier selection, negotiations, contracting, and performance management for strategic packaging suppliers across multiple regions, this also includes managing sustainability needs for the business.
- Partner with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Supplier Quality, NPI, Risk and R&D to support new product introductions, design changes, supplier qualifications, and value engineering initiatives.
- Drive total cost of ownership improvements through market analysis, should-cost modeling, productivity programs, and supplier consolidation where appropriate.
- Monitor market trends, raw material dynamics, capacity constraints, and supply risks to proactively develop mitigation plans and ensure business continuity.
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Packaging Engineering, Business, Engineering, or a related field in strategic sourcing.
- 9+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, category management, or procurement with direct responsibility for packaging materials in a global, matrixed organization.
- Demonstrated success developing category strategies, leading complex negotiations, and delivering measurable cost, service, and working capital improvements.
- Experience managing supplier performance and cross-functional initiatives involving quality, operations, planning, and new product introduction.
- Strong analytical, financial, and communication skills with the ability to translate market insights into executive-ready recommendations and sourcing actions.
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:
- Ability to travel up to 20%, including visits to suppliers, manufacturing sites, and partner locations.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
- Sourcing expertise for packaging within regulated industries (medical device, diagnostics, life sciences, pharmaceuticals), including supplier qualification and change control.
- Strong knowledge of packaging materials and processes (corrugate, labels, inserts, films, molded and printed components).
- Proven ability to drive sustainability, packaging optimization, and supply chain risk mitigation through cross-functional and supplier collaboration.

The annual salary range for this role is $120k - $128k. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting.
This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
