Company Background
Specter's mission is to help automate the physical world.

Today, we build video sensors with state-of-the-art AI agents that answer any question, anywhere in their environments. Our systems can automatically detect and reason about any physical activity captured on camera, from security incidents (e.g. perimeter intrusion, theft, LPR), to safety monitoring (e.g. PPE detection, injured people), to operational efficiency (e.g. material tracking, congestion monitoring). We offer both long range wireless (1km range) and wired sensor variants to suit any deployment.

Our co-founders Xerxes and Philip are passionate about empowering our partners in the fast approaching world of physical AI and robotics. We are a small, fast growing team who hail from Anduril, Tesla, Uber, and the U.S. Special Forces.

The Role
Specter is hiring a Manufacturing Technician to join a high-impact team supporting the rapid development and iteration of our core hardware. You will be responsible for executing builds of our advanced electronics products while collaborating directly with the production and manufacturing engineering teams to bring new products to life and produce existing products. The products range from complex sensing components to cutting edge electronics, from concept to reality.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute mechanical and electrical assembly of PCBAs into finished products and integrated systems.

  • Read and interpret technical documentation, working from engineering drawings, schematics, and controlled processes to ensure build accuracy.

  • Assist in the development of production processes for production runs, helping establish the standards for future scalability.

  • Provide hands-on feedback to improve design manufacturability.

  • Self-monitor work progress against area benchmarks to ensure the on-time delivery of critical production milestones.

  • Assist in the production of products on the manufacturing line as needed to deliver products to customers.

  • Maintain high standards of accuracy and efficiency, ensuring all work meets the rigorous quality requirements of mission-critical hardware.

  • Follow and help improve build instructions, wiring diagrams, and test checklists

  • Perform basic soldering, crimping, and connector assembly

  • Use diagnostic tools (multimeter, oscilloscope, power supply) to verify system function

  • Identify and resolve assembly or component issues in collaboration with engineers

  • Track parts, builds, and materials using internal inventory systems

  • Support prototype and pilot builds alongside mechanical and electrical engineers

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace

  • Occasionally assist with deployment prep and on-site assembly or troubleshooting

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical, electrical, and/or PCBA assembly and rework.

  • Hands-on experience with fabrication, repair, and/or integration.

  • Comfortable working in ambiguous, fast-iteration environments where designs and requirements evolve rapidly.

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.

  • Excellent concentration and attention to detail, with a proven track record of maintaining high accuracy in precision work.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with ruggedized electronics or mission-critical hardware systems.

  • Prior experience in a high-growth startup or R&D environment.
