Interventional Cardiology Therapies (ICT) is a vital component of the Medtronic Cardiovascular portfolio consisting of three therapies; coronary, renal denervation and structural heart. Our core coronary products treat blocked coronary arteries and we are seeking to solve unmet needs in the rapidly growing field of complex Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI). In renal denervation we are leading the way with the transformational Blood pressure reduction therapy, which has the potential to be a powerful tool in battling the global hypertension epidemic. Structural Heart therapies offer minimally-invasive approaches to restore proper structure and function on the heart focusing on the transcatheter replacement or repair of heart valves.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF:
The Engineering Manager will be involved in providing high level leadership and direction to the operations engineering team ensuring the implementation of strategic and tactical activities supporting the ICT portfolio.
- Lead, grow and motivate a highly talented, diverse, world-class performance engineering team
- Direct, develop, and coach the operations engineering team involved in new product development and released product management consisting of direct reports through effective leadership
- Attract and retain talent in line with business need
- Ensure that the operations engineering team are motivated and engaged through the process of regular coaching and performance acceleration, and that development plans meet individual and group development needs in alignment with the demands of the business
- Drive functional excellence through the innovation of new technologies and processes to support next generation designs and novel applications in the coronary and renal denervation space
- Drive functional excellence in developing and sharing best practices across the team
- Help identify and support functional initiatives to develop best practices for the team
- Collaborate with core teams to establish objectives and evaluates progress of direct reports and the engineering team.
- Coach the team through program milestones and issue resolution.
- Generate novel and unique solutions to both engineering and organizational challenges
- Grow and nurture cross site and cross functional relationships in a large, multi-site, matrixed organization
- Participate at department management level and build strong peer relationships
KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Level 8 Degree in Engineering / Science or related discipline and desirably with 5 years relevant direct engineering experience within medical device environment or 3 years with an advanced degree
- Experience of direct management of engineers is a distinct advantage
- Excellent team building, communication, people management and leadership skills
- A strong communicator and fluent in English, both in writing and speaking.
- A dynamic team player and leader and can work effectively and proactively across the team
- Experience in electromechanical devices is desirable.
