Ideation Leader – Fire Portfolio
As Fire Ideation Leader you will be responsible for driving innovation, productivity, and value creation across the Fire Portfolio by identifying, developing, and advancing high-impact opportunities that improve profitability, product competitiveness, quality, and supply chain resilience. This role leads the portfolio ideation strategy, manages a pipeline of cost and growth initiatives, and works closely with Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Product Management, and Finance teams to convert ideas into executable projects.
As a strategic leader and catalyst for cross-functional collaboration, the Fire Ideation Leader facilitates ideation events, governs opportunity development, drives seedbed creation, and ensures effective progression of opportunities from concept through execution. The role is accountable for maintaining a healthy ideation pipeline, establishing best practices, monitoring portfolio performance, and enabling continuous improvement across the Fire business to deliver measurable business impact and sustainable growth.
You will work closely with Fire Portfolio leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to establish long-term innovation strategies, maximize business impact, and deliver measurable results across the portfolio.
This position is based in Bangalore and follows a 4/1 hybrid work schedule. The role requires travel to engineering, manufacturing, and customer sites for approximately 10–20% of engagements, typically involving 2–5-day visits and averaging one to three trips per year.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the Fire Portfolio ideation strategy to identify, prioritize, and convert high-impact opportunities into executable projects.
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of productivity, cost reduction, quality, and supply chain improvement initiatives.
- Facilitate cross-functional ideation events, value engineering workshops, and innovation campaigns across global teams.
- Partner with Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Product Management, and Finance stakeholders to drive opportunity generation and execution.
- Evaluate product designs, components, materials, manufacturing processes, and emerging technologies to identify value engineering and design-to-cost opportunities.
- Drive idea qualification, feasibility assessments, risk analysis, business case development, and ROI validation.
- Provide technical leadership in component engineering, cost optimization, redesign activities, and alternative component qualification.
- Leverage strong knowledge of electronic hardware design, including analog and digital circuits, power supplies, PCB design, and subsystem integration to assess and develop improvement opportunities.
- Support component selection, change management, and implementation activities while ensuring compliance with quality, reliability, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate qualification testing, validation plans, and performance assessments to enable successful implementation of approved opportunities.
- Monitor opportunity conversion, portfolio health, savings realization, and pipeline sufficiency through governance reviews and performance dashboards.
- Drive alignment and accountability across stakeholders, removing technical and business roadblocks to accelerate project execution.
- Utilize engineering and PLM tools such as SAP, Teamcenter, Agile, and PDM systems to manage opportunity progression and implementation.
- Develop and present executive-level reports, business cases, portfolio reviews, and project outcomes to leadership teams.
- Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and best practice sharing across the Fire Portfolio. Collaborate effectively with global teams and multiple stakeholders.
Experience and Education Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical/ Electronic Engineering
- 08 - 10 Years of professional experience in Hardware Design, strong fundamental knowledge in electrical, analog, digital and power electronics engineering and Value & Component Engineering methodologies.
- Strong knowledge of strategic sourcing and program management.
- Expertise in process design and manufacturing methodologies.
- Experience in Product Development Lifecycle
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Lean and Six Sigma principles and practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively and multitask across large cross-functional teams.
