United StatesPermanent$205k–$265kPosted Jul 17, 2026
At uniQure, we are delivering on the promise of gene therapy and delivering hope for patients facing urgent unmet medical needs. Every role in our organization carries profound purpose; whether you're in research, operations, access, or support, your contributions impact patients. We're seeking passionate professionals who thrive in high-stakes environments, uphold rigorous quality standards, and share our relentless commitment to transforming the lives of patients.  Join us in making the impossible possible, where your expertise becomes a catalyst for life-changing treatments.

uniQure is seeking an experienced, hands-on Director, Commercial Supply Chain to build, scale, and run the commercial supply chain for our AAV gene therapy portfolio at a defining moment - as we prepare to launch a pivotal Phase 3 program and ramp toward global commercialization. As a foundational hire within Global Operations, you will stand up the people, processes, systems, and external partnerships required to deliver complex, high-value, temperature-sensitive therapies reliably and compliantly to treatment centers and patients worldwide. This is a role for a leader who is equally comfortable setting multi-year strategy and rolling up their sleeves to execute day-to-day - designing the operating model one week and resolving a shipment or forecast issue the next. In a predominantly outsourced (CDMO/3PL) network, you will own end-to-end commercial supply: demand and supply planning, distribution and cold-chain logistics, launch readiness, and supply chain compliance, working in close partnership with Technical Operations, Quality, Regulatory, Commercial, Finance, and external partners. You will shape how uniQure’s commercial supply chain scales from first launch to a sustainable, multi-market operation.

Key result areas (major duties, accountabilities and responsibilities)

Commercial Supply Chain Build & Scale
  • Design and stand up the commercial supply chain operating model, processes, tools, governance, and organization, fit for a low-volume, high-value AAV gene therapy portfolio
  • Define and execute a phased roadmap that scales capability from initial launch to a repeatable, multi-product, multi-market operation
  • Build and lead the commercial supply chain team over time, fostering a performance-driven, patient-focused, continuous-improvement culture
  • Balance strategic build with hands-on execution, personally owning critical tactical activities until the function is scaled

Launch Readiness (Phase 3 -> Global Commercial Launch)
  • Drive supply chain strategy and readiness for the Phase 3 program and subsequent global commercial launch, including new markets, indications, and lifecycle expansions
  • Develop launch supply plans, network design, and readiness checklists in alignment with product lifecycle management, in partnership with TechOps, QA, RA, Clinical Operations and Commercial
  • Establish launch governance and cross-functional alignment, serving as the supply chain single point of contact to product and launch teams
  • Ensure treatment-center and channel readiness, including qualification of specialty distribution and treatment-site onboarding for gene therapy administration

Demand & Supply Planning / S&OP
  • Establish and run demand and supply planning and the S&OP/IBP process for the commercial portfolio, managing the lumpy, patient-driven demand characteristic of gene therapy
  • Translate commercial demand signals and market events into actionable, financially sound supply plans; improve forecast accuracy to support reliable supply and inventory management
  • Manage constrained, high-value inventory and CDMO capacity, leading allocation, scenario planning, and trade-off decisions to protect product availability
  • Partner with Finance on forecast assumptions, inventory implications, accruals, budget alignment, and performance follow-up

Distribution, Logistics & Cold Chain
  • Define and optimize the global distribution network - 3PLs, specialty distributors/pharmacies, and treatment centers - to meet market access models and patient needs
  • Own end-to-end cold-/ultra-cold-chain logistics, ensuring temperature integrity, chain of custody, and last-mile delivery to treatment sites across regions
  • Establish import/export, and returns processes in line with uniQure standards and local market requirements
  • Own product availability, service levels (OTIF), and inventory performance for the commercial market(s)

Compliance, Quality & Risk
  • Ensure full compliance with GDP, DSCSA/serialization, EU FMD, and applicable global regulatory requirements across the distribution network
  • Partner with Quality to maintain GxP/GDP compliance, including exception handling, deviations, root-cause investigations, CAPA closure, and KPI/QMR reporting
  • Lead supply risk assessment, business continuity, and mitigation (including contingency and dual-source thinking for critical nodes) and act as the escalation point for critical supply, service, and distribution issues

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Financial Partnership
  • Serve as the commercial supply chain partner to Commercial (Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Patient Services), TechOps, Quality, Regulatory, Finance, and Legal
  • Provide executive-level insight on supply risks, trade-offs, and scenario planning to inform corporate decision-making
  • Manage external partners (CDMOs, 3PLs, logistics providers) against clear performance expectations and total-cost-of-ownership views

Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Life Sciences, or related field (or equivalent experience); advanced degree a plus
  • Approximately 8-10 years of progressive commercial supply chain experience in biopharma/life sciences, including direct experience leading product launches
  • Direct experience in cell and gene therapy, biologics, or other complex/cold-chain, low-volume high-value modalities strongly preferred
  • Proven ability to build or significantly scale a commercial supply chain capability, ideally in an emerging or mid-size company, in a predominantly outsourced (CDMO/3PL) environment
  • Strong knowledge of S&OP/IBP, demand and supply planning, inventory management, and distribution network strategy
  • Deep understanding of pharmaceutical distribution models, specialty distribution/pharmacy, 3PLs and of GDP/DSCSA/serialization-regulated environments; treatment-center/site logistics for advanced therapies advantageous
  • Experience operating across both global and market-specific (e.g., US and/or EU) supply chains
  • Strong financial acumen: forecasting, budgeting, inventory economics, and partnership with Finance
  • Proficiency with planning and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Anaplan, or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated willingness and ability to operate hands-on across both tactical execution and strategic leadership
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills; proven ability to lead through complexity and influence senior stakeholders and external partners

Who You Are
  • You are genuinely passionate about uniQure’s mission to transform patients’ lives through innovative gene therapies
  • You are comfortable spanning strategy and execution, and you take pride in doing the hands-on work needed to build something from the ground up
  • You bring precision, excellence, and a rooted-in-science approach to problem-solving
  • You are a generous collaborator who works well across functions and with external partners
  • You can grapple with ambiguity and the unknown, and you are energized by a fast-growing, dynamic environment
