Accountabilities:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Medical Science Liaisons, fostering a collaborative, high-performing, and scientifically rigorous culture.
- Establish clear objectives, territory strategies, and performance expectations while supporting team growth through coaching, feedback, and career development.
- Partner with Medical Affairs leadership to align field activities with organizational priorities, strategic initiatives, and business objectives.
- Provide strategic input into medical education initiatives, product launches, and field medical strategies.
- Ensure MSL teams are equipped with current scientific data, clinical insights, and resources to support impactful healthcare professional engagement.
- Oversee scientific exchange activities with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), healthcare practitioners, clinician scientists, and researchers.
- Strengthen relationships through advisory boards, scientific congresses, educational programs, and other external engagements.
- Identify educational gaps and evidence needs within the medical community and collaborate on initiatives to address them.
- Partner cross-functionally with Commercial, Clinical, Regulatory, Operations, and other teams to support aligned execution.
- Ensure compliance with pharmacovigilance, regulatory, ethical, GxP, and healthcare privacy requirements.
- Monitor field performance metrics, communicate progress and insights to leadership, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Stay informed on emerging scientific trends, competitive landscapes, and advancements within ophthalmology and eye care.
- Advanced degree such as OD, PhD, PharmD, MD, or another relevant scientific qualification with experience in eye care.
- 10+ years of experience in Medical Affairs or related scientific roles, including at least 5 years leading Medical Science Liaison teams.
- Strong knowledge of ophthalmology, optometry, and eye care markets preferred.
- Previous experience managing field medical teams within a biopharmaceutical or healthcare organization preferred.
- Demonstrated success building relationships with KOLs, healthcare professionals, researchers, and other medical stakeholders.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire, coach, and develop high-performing teams.
- Strong strategic thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience collaborating across commercial, clinical, regulatory, and operational functions.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Ability to manage ambiguity, prioritize competing initiatives, and drive measurable outcomes.
- Strong understanding of compliance requirements and best practices within Medical Affairs.
- Willingness to travel approximately 50-75% for KOL engagement, field visits, scientific meetings, and team activities.
- Competitive base salary range of $203,200 - $284,600 USD, plus bonus and stock equity opportunities.
