Position Summary
Provide services for prospective and current employees University-wide who require workplace accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and comparable state and city disability law. Inform staff, administrators, student-employees, and faculty of available services and facilitate accommodation requests in consultation with healthcare providers, departments, and supervisors. Advise campus stakeholders of their rights and responsibilities under the interactive process; interpret federal, state, and city policies and procedures. Review and implement provisions for reasonable workplace accommodation in collaboration with the Employee Accommodations Team. Develop and present trainings for University constituents.
Qualifications
Required Education:Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's degree in appropriate discipline (Counseling, Psychology, Teaching and Learning, Education, Rehabilitation Counseling, Social Work, or related area).Preferred Education:Bachelor's DegreeRequired Experience:3+ years relevant professional experience providing a high level of customer service and/or directly related experience with appropriate adult population with disability(ies).Preferred Experience:1+ years experience in Higher Education.Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Excellent interpersonal, listening, written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of federal, state, and city regulations regarding the ADA and comparable laws. Remain current on disability law, procedures, and trends related to workplace accommodations. Strong command of organizational and analytical skills; considerable knowledge of office systems and procedures; knowledge of business communication. Ability to take initiative and manage a variety of tasks and projects simultaneously. Ability to deal tactfully and discreetly with sensitive and confidential matters.Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Training or equivalent experience in performing paralegal related services; familiarity with federal, New York State, and New York City legislation related to workplace accommodations, equal opportunity, and the rights of individuals with disabilities.
Additional Information
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $70,000.00 to USD $77,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
