Your mission in CMbE

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Test Engineer to join our team and play a key role in programming, building, and testing electrical sub‑assemblies and complete machines. In this role, you will ensure that all equipment operates to the highest standards by carrying out detailed testing, making wiring modifications, and performing fault‑finding activities as needed.

You will work closely with engineering teams to verify schematic drawings, provide constructive feedback, and support continuous improvement. The position also involves configuring PLCs, HMIs, drives, and remote I/O units, along with occasional minor software adjustments. Your contribution will be essential in ensuring machines are delivered fully tested, compliant, and ready for customer approval.

About you

You must hold a minimum of a level 3 apprenticeship or NVQ in Electrical Engineering as well as a HNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering. The ideal candidate will be someone who thrives in a technical, hands‑on environment and enjoys working through complex problems with accuracy and confidence. You will be approachable, collaborative, and able to communicate clearly with customers and colleagues alike.

You should take pride in delivering high‑quality work, be comfortable working independently when needed, and remain calm and solution‑focused when faced with new issues. A natural team player with a positive attitude, you will bring both technical expertise and a professional approach to every task, helping to ensure that our machinery meets expectations and performs reliably for our customers.

To succeed in this role, you will bring a solid technical foundation, along with strong practical skills in testing high‑speed production machinery. You will have significant hands‑on experience in programming, testing, wiring, and problem solving, and will be confident in reading, understanding, and working from technical drawings. You should be comfortable diagnosing faults, applying modifications, and ensuring all work meets the required standards.

Strong communication skills are important, as you will regularly collaborate with colleagues and support customer buy‑off activities. An organised and methodical approach to work is essential, as is a willingness to take on new challenges and contribute effectively within a multi‑functional team.
