Job Description:
We are seeking a highly analytical and hands-on Demand & Capacity Planner to lead the transformation and subsequent sustaining of planning capabilities within a fast-paced semiconductor manufacturing environment. This role will be critical in evolving the organization from manual, Excel-based wafer start planning to a scalable, system-driven approach.
The ideal candidate has deep experience in semiconductor wafer fab operations, understands re-entrant flows and cycle time variability, and has successfully refined planning processes.
Key Responsibilities
Demand & Wafer Start Planning
Develop and own wafer start plans aligned with demand forecasts, fab capacity, and strategic priorities.
Translate customer demand into executable fab loading plans across multiple toolsets and process layers.
Balance near-term execution (S&OE) with long-term capacity planning (S&OP).
Capacity Modeling & Throughput Optimization
Build and maintain detailed capacity models incorporating:
Tool group capacities and constraints
Re-entrant flows
Cycle time variability
WIP profiles and queue dynamics
Identify bottlenecks and drive corrective actions to improve throughput and cycle time.
Perform scenario analysis to evaluate trade-offs between utilization, cycle time, and service levels.
Analytics & Decision Support
Develop advanced models to estimate cycle time, throughput, and capacity
Implement dashboards and KPIs including:
Capacity utilization
Cycle time and variability
Forecast accuracy
Plan adherence
Enable “what-if” simulation capabilities for demand volatility and fab disruptions.
Cross-Functional Alignment
Partner with local and overseas operations, engineering, supply chain, and finance teams to align plans.
Communicate risks, constraints, and recommendations to management leadership.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field (Master’s or PhD preferred).
12+ years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing or planning.
Strong understanding of:
Semiconductor wafer fab operations
Re-entrant manufacturing flows
Cycle time drivers and variability
WIP management, bottlenecks, and throughput optimization.
Proven experience building planning systems from Excel/manual processes.
Hands-on experience with MES, ERP, and Data analytics systems.
Expertise in developing wafer start and capacity models.
Preferred
Lean/Six Sigma certification or equivalent process improvement experience.
Familiarity with data tools (SQL, Python, JMP).
Experience in high mix/low-volume or complex manufacturing environments.
Key Competencies
Strong analytical and quantitative modeling skills
Ability to operate in ambiguity and build scalable solutions
Excellent stakeholder communication across technical and management teams
Proven change agent in operational transformation
Compensation and Benefits
The annual base salary range for this position is USD 110,800.00 To USD 177,300.00
