CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a National Wastewater Technical Director to serve as a national technical leader/subject matter expert within our Water/Wastewater practice. This is a high-impact role for a recognized expert who thrives on solving complex challenges, guiding multidisciplinary teams, and advancing innovative, sustainable solutions that protect public health and the environment.
In this role, you won’t just deliver projects - you’ll shape technical direction, elevate best practices, and mentor the next generation of engineers.
What You'll Do:
- Serve as a national technical authority in wastewater treatment by setting standards, guiding design approaches, and influencing project delivery across regions
- Lead complex wastewater treatment projects from concept through implementation, including process selection, design development, and regulatory coordination
- Provide expert consultation on the most challenging technical issues, supporting project teams and clients with innovative, defensible solutions
- Drive technical excellence and quality through peer reviews, QA/QC leadership, and development of best practices
- Collaborate with project managers and regional leaders to plan, scope, and execute high-profile projects
- Mentor and develop engineering staff, strengthening technical depth and fostering future leaders within the organization
- Support strategic pursuits and client engagement, contributing to proposals, presentations, and thought leadership that differentiates CHA in the marketplace
- Represent CHA externally through industry engagement, presentations, and professional organizations
What You Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or related engineering field required; Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 20 years of progressive experience in wastewater treatment, with demonstrated expertise in process design and facility improvements required
- Experience with emerging contaminants and advanced treatment technologies (e.g., PFAS, nutrient removal, advanced oxidation, biosolids management), including evaluation, pilot testing, and implementation strategies
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- Recognized expertise in wastewater treatment systems, with the ability to advise on complex technical and regulatory challenges
- Strong working knowledge of modeling tools and design platforms (e.g., BioWin, GPS-X, AutoCAD, Revit, etc.)
- Proven ability to lead through influence in a collaborative, multi-office environment
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
- Active participation in professional organizations and industry leadership is highly valued

Salary Range:
$200,000 - $250,000
Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
