Business Intelligence Manager, Credit Union

USC Credit Union is looking for a skilled Business Intelligence (BI) Manager to enhance our data analytics and reporting, with the primary goal of giving our organization's leaders the key information they need to help them make informed, strategic business decisions. The BI Manager will source and analyze data, perform assessments and risk analysis to identify problems with current company processes, and support in decision making. The BI Manager will collaborate with management to increase efficiency and improve both member and employee experiences.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Builds and maintains the underlying business intelligence infrastructure, including the cloud data warehouse (Snowflake), data models, visual style guides, and the pipelines that move and transform data from source systems into analytics-ready tables.
  • Designs and operates modern data pipelines, including ingestion from operational systems and the transformation logic that prepares data for reporting and analysis.
  • Produces data collection methods (e.g., surveys, tests, etc.), and develops tools and processes to support analyses.
  • Generates summary and specified dashboard accounts which represent operational data in brief and intelligible format, suitable for the target audience, such as executive leadership, department managers and supervisors and other analysts.
  • Provides business data trend information to support recommendations for action. Collaborates with management on matters of best practices, appropriate statistical measures and benchmarking. Provides management with suggestions, as appropriate.
  • Carries out quality assessment of data, data reports and the accompanying decisions.
  • Conducts analysis of findings and offers action-driven recommendations and insights to executive leaders and managers on the basis of results.
  • Provides recommendations for decisions affecting business operations and strategic initiatives.
  • Trains non-technical stakeholders on use of reporting tools and concepts.
  • Devises policies and methods to be used for data governance standards, both for internal data and vendor relationships.
  • May lead staff or student workers, as assigned.

Minimum Field of Expertise:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, statistics, or another related field.
  • Three years of experience in analytics with some supervisory duties.
  • Direct knowledge and experience in data modeling, data warehousing and reporting.
  • Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience with a cloud data warehouse. Snowflake experience is required.
  • Experience building and visualizing reports in Power BI or a comparable tool.
  • Project management experience for complex projects.
  • Demonstrated organizational, critical thinking, interpersonal, planning, problem solving, and business analytical skills.
  • Able to work at a high functional and technical level.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with dbt for data transformation and modeling.
  • Experience with Airbyte or a similar data integration / ingestion platform.
  • Familiarity with version control (Git) and analytics engineering practices.

Compensation:

The annual base salary range for this position is $120,000 - $150,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
