Senior Enterprise Software Engineer
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Enterprise Software Engineer to join our Application Operations (AppOps) team within Global Technology Solutions. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, performance, and security of enterprise applications hosted across AWS and Azure cloud platforms. You will work closely with DevOps, SRE, and Product Engineering teams to support and maintain mission-critical applications, drive operational excellence, and lead incident management and resolution efforts. As a senior member of the team, you will mentor junior engineers, champion automation and continuous improvement, and contribute to architectural and operational decisions that enhance the stability and scalability of our application ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Manage and support enterprise applications deployed across AWS and Azure environments, ensuring high availability, optimal performance, and adherence to SLA commitments.
- Lead and participate in incident management processes including triage, root cause analysis, post-incident reviews, and implementation of permanent corrective actions.
- Monitor application health and performance using observability tools such as Application Insights, CloudWatch, Datadog, Splunk, or Grafana, proactively identifying and resolving issues before they impact end users. Collaborate with DevOps teams to manage and optimize CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or similar platforms, ensuring smooth and reliable application deployments and releases. Support and maintain cloud infrastructure components including EC2, ECS, EKS, Lambda, Auto Scaling Groups, App Services, AKS, Azure Functions, and associated networking and storage resources.
- Drive automation of operational tasks, runbooks, and remediation workflows using scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates. Manage DNS configurations, SSL certificate rotations, load balancer settings, and other critical infrastructure components to ensure seamless application operations. Participate in Operational Readiness
- Reviews for new application deployments and major changes, validating that all operational, security, and compliance requirements are met. Coordinate with security teams to remediate vulnerabilities, manage patching cycles, enforce secure configurations, and ensure compliance with enterprise security policies and standards.
- Perform change enablement activities including planning, scheduling, and executing standard, normal, and expedited changes with minimal disruption to services. Manage and resolve ServiceNow incidents and change requests, maintaining accurate documentation and ensuring timely communication with stakeholders.
- Mentor and guide associate and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of operational discipline, continuous learning, and technical growth within the team.
Skills:
- 5 to 9 years of hands-on experience in application operations, production support, or site reliability engineering within enterprise environments. Strong working knowledge of AWS cloud services including EC2, ECS, EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, Route 53, and IAM.
- Strong working knowledge of Azure cloud services including App Services, AKS, Azure Functions, Azure SQL, Service Bus, Azure Monitor, and Azure Active Directory. Experience with containerization using Docker and container orchestration using Kubernetes in production environments.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, PowerShell, or Bash for operational tasks, runbook automation, and remediation workflows.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep, or ARM templates. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools including Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.
- Strong experience with observability and monitoring platforms such as Application Insights, CloudWatch, Datadog, Splunk, Grafana, or similar tools.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals including DNS, load balancing, firewalls, VPNs, VPCs, and SSL/TLS certificate management.
- Experience with ITSM tools such as ServiceNow for incident, change, and problem management. Strong understanding of ITIL practices including incident management, change enablement, problem management, and service level management.
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to diagnose complex issues across distributed, multi-cloud application environments.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with experience working in globally distributed teams across multiple time zones.
- Experience with DevSecOps practices and integrating security into operational workflows. AWS or Azure certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, AWS SysOps Administrator, Azure Administrator Associate, or Azure Solutions Architect. Experience with log aggregation, tracing, and APM tools for deep application diagnostics. Familiarity with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet. Exposure to FinOps practices including cloud cost monitoring, optimization, and reporting. Experience with authentication and identity management systems such as PingFederate, OAuth, OIDC, or SAML. Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies and participation in sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives.
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, or a related technical discipline is required.
- A Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cloud Computing, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
- Equivalent professional experience in application operations, cloud engineering, or IT infrastructure management may be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
- Relevant industry certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, AWS SysOps Administrator, Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Solutions Architect, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), ITIL Foundation, or similar credentials are highly valued and can supplement formal education qualifications
