The Setty Lab (setty-lab.org) at the Fred Hutch is a computational biology lab focused on developing computational tools and methods for analysis of high throughput single-cell genomics data. We work in extensive collaborative partnerships with bench scientists to tackle questions related to cellular differentiation, lineage decisions, regulatory mechanisms, tumorigenesis and emergence of metastasis. We are seeking a Research Technician I to assist in the analysis of the large-scale single-cell genomics data that is being generated from animal models and patient samples. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with a background in biology and experience in computer science or statistics, and is enthusiastic about learning how to apply algorithms to single-cell data. The technician will work in direct supervision of Dr. Manu Setty, who has extensive experience in modeling and interpretation of single-cell data.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the implementation, application and evaluation of tools to process, integrate, batch-correct and visualize single-cell genomics data.
  • Assist and learn how to interpret the data and explain the results in research discussion with experimental collaborators.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related scientific field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated scientific knowledge in the area of study.
  • Demonstrated basic laboratory skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A degree in biology, computational Biology, bioengineering, bioinformatics, or similar
  • Experience/familiarity in working with high throughput sequencing data.
  • Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Python, R, Matlab (preferably Python).
  • Ability to learn new tools and content quickly and independently.
  • Strong communication skills.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $23.33 to $33.21 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.Although Fred Hutch is not sponsoring most H-1B visas at this time, candidates who already hold an H-1B sponsored by another organization and are currently in the U.S. may be eligible for this position.Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center offers employees a comprehensive benefits package designed to enhance health, well-being, and financial security.
