The Global Trusts & Estates Practice is an integral part of the services we offer to clients. With over 170 years of experience in serving as a corporate fiduciary for families, it is important that our Trusts and Estates services are delivered by the most capable people, with technical experience as well as the ability to interact well with a variety of types of families and individuals.
The Private Foundations Services Team (PFS) of the J.P. Morgan Private Bank serves as a clearinghouse for the philanthropic interest of clients, offering guidance around family philanthropy. PFS facilitates over $150 million in annual giving on behalf of client foundations, working with hundreds of grantee partners of all sizes – from small grassroots organizations to major institutions. The PFS Team, comprised of Program Officers and Grants Managers provides guidance and support to clients and internal partners around grant making and family philanthropy. The group provides grant making services, assists in the development of funding strategies, and helps family members to define and carry out philanthropic legacies.
Responsibilities:
Manage multiple philanthropic portfolios for client foundations in a manner consistent with established goals and objectives
Review proposals, conduct meetings and site visits, analyze financial information, and make recommendations regarding grants
Coordinate with multiple internal partners in local U.S. markets around grant making for foundations:
Develop efficiencies around grant making strategy;
Exercise various risk management procedures; and
Prepare and present (in various formats) grant recommendations for approval
Analyze issues and trends within program areas as they relate to the various foundations’ interests. Conduct and coordinate research, as necessary
Explore new aspects of current program areas as well as new areas of potential interest, and manage special projects
Maintain a strong professional and philanthropic network in order to enhance grant making, generate proposals, and inform program direction
Participate in efforts to educate and update JPMorgan colleagues in markets on foundations (e.g. IRS requirements, best practices)
Support new business development activities driven by in-market colleagues
Provide support for other PFS Program Officers, and on occasion, other members of the Bank on client-related special projects and philanthropic advisory services

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree required; related graduate Degree a plus
At least five years’ experience in the nonprofit and/or philanthropic organization is required, including experience in grant making
Experience as a skilled generalist preferred, with knowledge in one or more program areas (such as: animal welfare, early childhood education, and/or healthcare) and ability to develop subject matter expertise, as needed
