ABOUT THE ROLE

The AVP, Capital Systems will lead the strategy, governance, process optimization, and technology enablement of the organization's capital planning, capital project management, asset lifecycle management, renovation programs, and related operational processes.

This individual will serve as the technology owner for the organization's enterprise capital systems and will be responsible for the successful evaluation, selection, integration, implementation, adoption, and ongoing support of the capital management platform and related technologies. Working closely with Operations, Construction, Asset Management, FP&A, Accounting, Data Insights, Information Technology, Procurement, and external operators, the AVP will ensure the platform supports business objectives, standardizes processes, improves portfolio visibility, and enables data-driven capital investment decisions across the organization.

The AVP will work in close partnership with the Director of Capital Initiatives and Solutions, who serves as the business lead for Capital Projects processes and operational priorities. Together, they will define business requirements, evaluate technology solutions, and deliver an integrated, enterprise-wide platform that supports Welltower's long-term capital management strategy.

The ideal candidate combines deep experience in construction, capital projects, property operations, and business process management with strong analytical, financial, technology, and leadership capabilities. This role requires an individual who can bridge business needs and technology solutions, build consensus across diverse stakeholder groups, and deliver scalable platforms that improve operational efficiency and support enterprise decision-making.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Serve as the technology owner for the organization's enterprise capital systems, including the capital management platform, integrations, reporting framework, and supporting business processes
  • Lead requirements gathering, process design, vendor evaluation, system selection, implementation, and ongoing optimization efforts.
  • Partner with Operations, Construction, Asset Management, Finance, Accounting, Data Insights, IT, and operators to standardize workflows and business processes.
  • Drive adoption of enterprise capital administration tools through training, change management, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Establish reporting, analytics, and data governance standards that support portfolio visibility and decision-making.
  • Ensure system workflows remain efficient, scalable, and user-friendly for both corporate and site-level users.
  • Manage platform enhancements, integrations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and technology partners to align system capabilities with organizational needs.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Finance, Real Estate, Information Systems, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in construction, capital projects, asset management, property operations, business systems, or related industries
  • Experience leading enterprise software implementations, business process transformation, or system modernization initiatives
  • Strong understanding of capital planning, project management, budgeting, and operational workflows
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Operations, Construction, Finance, Accounting, Data Insights, and Technology teams
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into scalable technology and process solutions
  • Experience in senior housing, healthcare real estate, multifamily, hospitality, commercial real estate, or REIT environments preferred
  • Experience implementing or managing capital planning, project management, asset management, ERP, or business intelligence platforms preferred
  • Experience leading enterprise-wide process transformation and system implementation initiatives preferred
