The Boeing CompanyThe Boeing Company is currently seeking a Mid-Level Boeing Commercial Airplanes Information Technology Architect to join the team in Everett, WA.
The Mid-Level Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) Information Technology (IT) Architect partners with business stakeholders and technical teams to design, document, and deliver domain-level architectures that align business priorities, capabilities, processes, data, and systems. This role focuses on cross-functional, mid-sized to large initiatives, documenting transitional architectures and patterns, and includes hands-on software development and delivery responsibilities to ensure designs are implementable and maintainable.
Position Responsibilities:
Translate business goals and capability requirements into solution and domain architectures to incorporate software design and implementation considerations
Lead analysis, design, and hands-on prototyping for business, including system context, process flow, data models, integration patterns, application programming interfaces (APIs), and component designs
Contribute to and review code, implement reference implementations or proof-of-concepts, and participate in code reviews to validate architectural decisions and ensure adherence to patterns and quality standards
Produce architecture artifacts: capability maps, current-state/target-state views, sequence diagrams, component and deployment diagrams, application programming interface (API) specifications, and example code snippets or templates
Define and validate non-functional requirements (scalability, performance, security, observability) and translate them into measurable software design constraints and test strategies (unit, integration, and performance testing)
Collaborate closely with product owners, solution architects, software developers, quality assurance (QA), data engineering, security, and operations to validate designs, support implementation, and guide deployment (continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD), containerization, cloud-native patterns)
Identify technical debt, dependencies, and migration paths; propose incremental implementation plans and contribute to roadmap planning and backlog prioritization with clear cost/risk/value tradeoffs
Drive adoption of modern software development practices (development and operations (DevOps), automated testing, continuous delivery, infrastructure as code) and mentor development teams on applying architectural patterns in code
Conduct architecture and design reviews; document decisions via architecture decision records (ADRs) and manage exception requests where needed
Support architecture governance processes and contribute to the enterprise architecture repository and reusable pattern and code libraries, including sample implementations and reference microservices
Communicate complex technical tradeoffs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and help teams operationalize architecture through runbooks, deployment guides, and supportability plans
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
3+ years of experience in program or portfolio management with enterprise-scale data migrations or modernizations
3+ years of experience in providing architecture (including business, application, integration, security, or infrastructure architecture) support to a project or domain that consists of multiple applications and/or technologies
3+ years of experience with Cloud, Containerization and Automation
3+ years of experience working in a cross functional environment with all levels in the business from individual contributors to executive leadership
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Bachelor's degree or higher
Relevant certifications (TOGAF, SAFe, cloud architect certifications)
Experience with PLM, MES, ERP, WMS/TMS, supplier portals, or shop floor automation systems
Experience with canonical data models and MDM implementations
Experience creating migration wave plans and validating pilots/prototypes

Summary pay range: $125,800 – $170,200
