The Lead Manufacturing Systems Engineer reports to the Senior Manager, Manufacturing Systems Engineering in South Asia and partners closely with Manufacturing Systems Engineering, Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, Product Risk Engineering based in PHK, and factory partners across APAC. The team drives Nike’s strategic manufacturing goals, and continuous improvement objectives, and supports the adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies that enhance foundational capabilities and connect execution across the partner base.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The team is seeking an experienced Lead Manufacturing Systems Engineer based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, to play a pivotal role within Nike’s Manufacturing Engineering organization. This role drives the development and implementation of core manufacturing capabilities across Quality, Lean, Industrial Engineering, and Garment Engineering. The successful candidate will lead strategic initiatives, strengthen cross-functional collaboration, and align execution with Nike’s manufacturing vision and operational excellence objectives.
The lead engineer will bring strong leadership and people management capabilities to inspire, motivate, and develop a high-performing engineering team while fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. They will leverage strong organizational and project management skills to effectively manage multiple priorities, resolve day-to-day challenges, anticipate potential risks, and implement proactive solutions. They will also communicate effectively and collaborate across functions and organizational levels to achieve shared business objectives and deliver sustainable results.
They have a thorough understanding of Apparel and Accessories manufacturing processes and their interdependencies with planning, scheduling, manufacturing, and distribution, with a strong focus on product and service quality. They will bring solid knowledge of manufacturing technologies and their application in improving operational quality and efficiency. They will effectively prioritize and lead people and projects to successful completion, navigate complex business challenges, and collaborate seamlessly with stakeholders across all organizational levels and cross-functional teams
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field, with a minimum of 6 years of experience in Manufacturing Systems Engineering or a related discipline.
Demonstrated people leadership and project management capability, with a strong foundation in Quality, Lean, Industrial Engineering, and Garment Engineering; advanced degrees or certifications are preferred.
Strong expertise in process engineering, manufacturing optimization, and continuous improvement, with a proven track record of delivering operational excellence.
Proficient in General Sewing Data (GSD), factory capacity planning, and production management.
Experienced in applying Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to drive efficiency, quality, and productivity improvements.
Data-driven and results-oriented, with the ability to leverage insights to influence decisions and accelerate business performance.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a passion for optimizing manufacturing processes, enhancing product quality, and delivering sustainable business results.
WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON
You will lead the evolution of manufacturing systems across Nike’s partner base—raising the bar on quality, efficiency, consistency, and partner capability. You will translate strategy into action, embedding engineering excellence, advanced manufacturing technologies, and continuous improvement into every stage of production.
You will:
Drive implementation of Quality, Lean Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, and Garment Engineering principles across factory partners while developing foundational capabilities and elevating engineering team effectiveness.
Collaborate with Product Risk Engineering to deploy product performance standards and standardize manufacturing processes across APAC.
Strengthen manufacturing readiness by leveraging manufacturing integration, engineering tools, best practices with quality/process engineering to mitigate risk at production.
Lead manufacturing execution by operating with world-class production quality engineering processes to ensure the perfect product is made right the first time.
Establish and track performance metrics to assess the impact of implemented initiatives on manufacturing outcomes.
Partner with Nike’s Issue Management team to conduct comprehensive review, analysis, and resolution of product issues; you will lead the root cause investigation and Corrective and Prevention action (CAPA) follow-up for continuous improvement at the factory and build a culture of quality.
Conduct inspections and audits, reference quality measurement and verification of post-production materials and products, to make informed product decisions.
Translate marketplace and consumer feedback into actionable manufacturing improvements and future product enhancements.
