As a R&D Engineer/Scientist II here at Honeywell, you will leverage your technical expertise to contribute to the design, development, and testing of innovative solutions that address complex challenges in aerospace technology. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive projects forward and help shape the future of aviation and aerospace systems.

You will report directly to our Engineering Manager and you’ll work out of our Plymouth, MN location on a Hybrid work schedule. External hires will begin with 90 days on site before transitioning to a 3/2 hybrid schedule.

 

In this role you will be responsible for providing technical expertise on a variety of projects and programs for exciting new technologies in the field of Atmospheric Sensing and LiDAR. You will use your knowledge of lasers/optics and mechanical systems integration to support breakthrough product development. You will serve with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists to perform mechanical & optical systems design, development, and integration. You will leverage your laser and optics experience to align, maintain, and service lasers in our LiDAR systems. You will also support new business opportunities and pursuits with an integrated sales, business, and technical team.

YOU MUST HAVE


•    Master’s degree in Engineering or a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with at least 3 years of experience (preferably in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Engineering Physics) in a related field.
•    1-2 years of experience working with lasers and optical components including alignment, characterization, and maintenance
•    Experience with integrating and troubleshooting complex systems, including optical, mechanical, electrical, and software components.
•    Ability to operate and maintain complex systems, perform data collection, and conduct system calibration and validation.
•    Strong documentation skills, including the ability to capture minimum viable product documentation, system requirements, and test procedures.
•    Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, stakeholders, and external partners.
•    Flexibility and a willingness to travel regionally to customer locations for 0-25% of your work time
•    Must be a US Citizen due to contractual requirements
•    Ability to travel up to 25%

•    Knowledge of LiDAR technology
•    Strong knowledge of laser beam propagation, signal processing, and data analysis.
•    Experience with new product development and familiarity with product development life cycles, including design, prototyping, testing, and productization.
•    Some experience with Python script development

The annual range for this position is $91,200 - $114,000. Please note that this compensation information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.
