Position Summary:

The Senior Metrology Technician is responsible for the calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of instrumentation and measurement systems supporting GMP manufacturing, laboratory, utility, and facility operations. This position ensures measurement systems remain accurate, reliable, and compliant with applicable regulatory and quality requirements.

As a senior technical resource, this role provides advanced troubleshooting support, mentors less experienced technicians, and partners with Engineering, Manufacturing.  This position requires strong technical knowledge, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, 24/7 manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform calibration, maintenance, adjustment, and repair of instrumentation supporting manufacturing, laboratory, utility, and facility systems following product safety & quality systems.
• Ensure all calibration activities are completed in accordance with approved procedures, GMP requirements, and calibration schedules.
• Maintain calibration standards and test equipment in a qualified and operational state.
• Troubleshoot instrumentation and control systems to minimize equipment downtime.

• Perform loop checks, functional testing, and instrument verification following maintenance or system modifications.
• Review completed calibration documentation for accuracy and compliance before final approval.

Technical support

• Serve as a senior technical resource for complex calibration and instrumentation issues.
• Troubleshoot electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and process control systems.
• Perform calibration and troubleshooting of pressure, temperature, flow, level, analytical instrumentation, gas detection systems, control valves, transmitters, and associated instrumentation.
• Utilize electrical drawings, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, loop drawings, and equipment documentation to diagnose equipment issues.
• Support basic PLC troubleshooting and instrument communications when required.
• Assist Facilities Maintenance and Operations teams in troubleshooting production and utility equipment to prevent or correct mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation-related breakdowns.

Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve calibration procedures, equipment reliability, maintenance processes, and operational efficiency.
• Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment performance and reduce downtime.
• Support implementation of new instrumentation technologies, calibration methodologies, and process improvements.
• Recommend updates to calibration procedures, SOPs, and preventive maintenance strategies.
• Evaluate new instrumentation and provide technical recommendations for replacement or lifecycle management.

Leadership & Collaboration

• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Metrology Technicians and assist with on-the-job training.
• Share technical expertise and best practices to improve team capability and consistency.
• Participate in department meetings, shift turnover meetings, safety meetings, and cross-functional improvement initiatives.
• Effectively communicate equipment status, technical findings, to management

Safety & Operational Excellence

• Comply with all Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and inspection-ready work environment.
• Support a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Participate in emergency response activities and provide technical support during off-shift or after-hours equipment issues as required.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical Technology, or related technical discipline preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years, 5 years preferred of industrial instrumentation or metrology experience, preferably in a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated experience calibrating, maintaining, and troubleshooting process instrumentation and control systems.
• Working knowledge of industrial electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, loop drawings, and technical manuals.
• Experience using SAP CMMS or equivalent maintenance management software.

• Strong computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and computerized calibration management systems.
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  Must be able to move up to 50 lbs.
