Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Supervisor, Laboratory Services, you will lead the operational management of the clinical laboratory, providing direct leadership to technical associates and overseeing all levels of general testing within the analytical laboratory.

 

Every day you will apply a high level of technical knowledge to testing and clinical relevance, function in a self-directed manner, and manage staff to ensure efficient and accurate laboratory operations. You may also oversee pre-analytic supervision as determined by your site.

 

To be successful in this role, you will possess strong leadership and operational management skills in clinical laboratory settings, advanced technical knowledge, and the ability to effectively supervise technical associates, solve complex problems, and drive continuous improvement in laboratory services.

  • Responsible for operational management of the clinical laboratory, including direct leadership of technical associates.
  • Responsible for staff scheduling and monitoring of workflow. Responsible for the coordination and completion of training of new associates and students. Responsible for ensuring staff competency assessments are met and completed. Ensures that staff meets all safety, compliance and regulatory standards.
  • Responsible for review of QC, maintenance, calibrations, validations, reagent verification, downtime metrics, and other department documentation.
  • Demonstrates problem resolution and decision-making skills for any operation and technical problems.
  • Responsible for equipment operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and appropriate documentation of activities.
  • Acts as a steward of finances through appropriate uses of supplies, materials, and productive activities.

Job Requirements

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Clinical laboratory, chemical, biological science or equivalent
  • Three (3) years MLS/MT or MLT work experience in the clinical laboratory
  • MLS with ASCP certification, or MT/MLT with ASCP, AMT, or equivalent certification, or specialty ASCP certification in the assigned department
