Accountabilities:
- Design, develop, test, and optimize firmware for embedded mesh devices, including asset tags, gateways, sensors, and edge devices.
- Develop low-power embedded firmware using C/C++ and wireless communication technologies such as Bluetooth LE, sub-GHz radios, GNSS, and IoT protocols.
- Support hardware bring-up, firmware validation, manufacturing testing, and field deployment activities.
- Debug and improve firmware performance across laboratory and operational environments.
- Implement secure firmware capabilities, including over-the-air updates, device provisioning, and cryptographic services.
- Collaborate with hardware, cloud software, and DevSecOps teams to ensure effective system integration.
- Maintain firmware lifecycle activities, including version control, updates, and production support.
- Conduct customer site surveys to evaluate operational workflows and develop RFID deployment strategies.
- Recommend RFID hardware solutions, including readers, antennas, printers, tags, and related equipment.
- Perform RF coverage analysis, system configuration, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
- Lead customer demonstrations, pilots, and operational evaluations.
- Create technical documentation, implementation guides, and site survey reports.
- Act as the technical connection between customers and engineering teams, translating field feedback into product improvements.
- 5+ years of experience in embedded firmware development, RFID system deployment, or a combination of both.
- Experience deploying passive RFID systems in logistics, warehousing, manufacturing, or defense environments.
- Strong programming skills in C/C++ for embedded systems development.
- Experience with ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers and embedded RTOS environments.
- Familiarity with wireless communication technologies such as Bluetooth LE, LoRa, GNSS, LTE, or similar platforms.
- Experience working with embedded interfaces including SPI, I2C, UART, USB, and related protocols.
- Understanding of low-power embedded system design principles.
- Experience troubleshooting embedded hardware, networking, and RF systems.
- Knowledge of RFID platforms such as Zebra, Impinj, RF Controls, or similar enterprise solutions.
- Understanding of RF propagation, antenna selection, and RFID performance optimization.
- Familiarity with DFM and DFT principles for embedded hardware development.
- Strong communication and presentation skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work directly with government and military customers.
- Builder mindset with strong problem-solving skills and comfort working in field environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance; active Secret or Top Secret clearance preferred.
- Experience with Nordic nRF, STM32, ESP32, or similar embedded platforms.
- Experience supporting military logistics, DoD modernization programs, or government technology deployments.
- Knowledge of secure embedded systems, cryptographic key management, or FIPS standards.
- Experience with warehouse automation, RTLS, or industrial IoT solutions.
- Experience with manufacturing validation, production testing, or OTA firmware delivery.
- Competitive salary range of approximately $100,000–$190,000 depending on experience, skills, education, and certifications.
