Responsibilities
The Senior BO/ETL Test Engineer will be responsible for leading the quality assurance, data validation, and end-to-end testing of enterprise reporting solutions, universes, and underlying data structures.
In this role, you will:
- You will split responsibilities between hands-on report and universe testing (verifying WebI, Crystal Reports, and `.unx`/`.unv` semantic layers)
- You will backend database/ETL validation (writing complex SQL to perform source-to-target mapping verification).
- You will work closely with Product Owners, Developers, Architects, and Scrum/Kanban teams to ensure alignment with data accuracy, reporting performance standards, security requirements, and Agile delivery expectations.
Qualifications
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Bachelors and 5 years of overall tech experience in QA/ETL testing, with 3+ years specifically focused on testing SAP BusinessObjects reports, dashboards, and universes or Masters and 3 years experience.
- Strong test plan and test script development experience, specifically tailored for data warehousing, ETL processes, and complex BI environments.
- Deep functional understanding of SAP BusinessObjects suites (Web Intelligence, Crystal Reports, IDT/UDT Universes) and how security/RBAC models impact report data visibility.
- Hands-on experience verifying complex data transformation logic, structural changes, and validating data completeness from source systems to BO target reports.
- Must have advanced SQL skills for writing complex queries, joining disparate tables, and validating massive data sets across databases (e.g., Snowflake, Oracle, SQL Server) to compare against report outputs.
- Demonstrated experience using automated testing frameworks, scripting (Python, shell scripting, or Java), or BI-specific regression testing tools to streamline testing workflows.
- AWS experience (verifying data stages, working with S3 external stages, and testing cloud-based source data).
- Ability to work independently and effectively with little to no supervision.
- Team player with excellent executive function, meticulous attention to detail, and strong communication skills.
- Must have the ability to obtain a Public Trust.
- US Citizen or Green Card holder
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience validating BO environment migrations, platform upgrades, and regression testing reports across version updates (e.g., moving from BO 4.2 to 4.3).
- Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) experience; certification preferred.
- Relevant QA or SAP certifications (e.g., ISTQB Certified Tester, SAP Certified Application Associate).
- Experience validating automated BI deployments and continuous integration/continuous testing (CI/CD) pipelines.
- CLI Linux experience and testing automation in cloud-native data architectures.
- Performance and load testing experience (testing report execution speeds, load capacities, and query optimization impact on database compute resources).
- Experience working with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) information systems.
- CMS/Medicare or Medicaid claims data experience.
