Our technologies are trusted and deployed across defense, security, civil, and industrial sectors worldwide. RedWire Defense Tech is seeking an experienced Lead of Prototyping to lead and further develop the company’s prototyping capabilities for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), managing the prototyping team, improving manufacturing and prototyping processes, and collaborating closely with R&D, (NPI) engineering, and flight operations teams to deliver high-quality prototypes and R&D assets. Key Responsibilities:Lead the prototyping department and oversee daily operationsManage, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team of technicians, including CNC machining, composites, and mechanical assemblyImprove and optimize production and prototyping technologies and processesEnsure sustainable operation of the department, including:
  • maintenance of machinery and equipment
  • management of spare parts, materials, and consumables
Participate in product development with a focus on manufacturability and usabilityDevelop and expand prototyping capabilities and workflowsManage departmental assets, including R&D aircraft and equipmentSupport and perform testing, validation, and investigative activities.  Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Systems, Electrical, or related field)Experience in aerospace, defense, or UAS industries is preferredExperience leading teams or departments is an advantageStrong technical understanding of manufacturing and prototyping processesExperience with CNC machining, assembly, and composite manufacturing is a plusStrong organizational and problem-solving skillsAbility to work effectively in cross-functional teamsGood spoken and written English skills. We offer:A culture that values expertise, innovation, and continuous improvement
