Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Emergency Medical Specialist, you will administer patient care to designated patients under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, ensuring all duties align with the organization's mission and policies, while strictly adhering to performance improvement plans and regulatory standards.Every day you will perform a variety of direct and indirect patient care duties, focusing on activities of daily living in accordance with the prescribed plan of care. You will also utilize established hospital standards of care and practice to guide your activities, managing individual patient needs based on age and clinical diagnosis, and maintaining patient safety and confidentiality throughout their hospital stay.To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate exceptional patient care skills, a meticulous adherence to protocol and safety standards, and a deep understanding of patient needs and diversity.
- Adheres to established Hospital/departmental policies, procedures, objectives, Quality Assessment and Improvement Program, legal, safety, environmental, infection control standards and the Patient's Bill of Rights.
- Documents and communicates all activities performed; provides direct patient care in Takes and records vital signs, intake and output, weight as possible. Draws and labels blood when indicated. Performs EKGs when indicated. Assists in the provision of wound care. Applies dressing and splints when indicated. Assists in transfers of patients to other floors and departments.
- Ensures that all treatment rooms and carts are adequately stocked.
- Establishes and maintains interpersonal relationships with patients, visitors and Hospital personnel while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. Conforms to legal requirements of the Emergency Department standards, performing duties within the scope of training and Hospital/departmental policies.
- Contributes pertinent information for the development and revision of the patient's plan of care.
- Demonstrates an understanding of organizational structure and utilizes appropriate channels of communication.
Job Requirements
Required
- High School Graduate or GED
- Six months Emergency Care Technician experience
- Emergency Medical Technician: CA
- Phlebotomist: CA
- Basic Life Support - CPR
- Fire Safety, within 90 Days
Preferred
- Hospital experience
