It’s real systems, at real scale, people solving some of the hardest challenges in technology today.We’re looking for people who want to build, solve, and operate at that level.Join us and let’s shape the future of data.Job DescriptionThe Junior Packaging Engineer is an entry-level engineering role designed for fresh graduates or early-career engineers eager to build expertise in packaging design, testing, and qualification within a world-class technology company.You will work closely under the guidance of Senior Packaging Engineers, gaining hands-on experience across packaging design, lab testing, vendor coordination, and cross-functional collaboration. This role is a strong foundation for a long-term engineering career at Western Digital.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Design & DocumentationAssist in packaging design and development activities under senior engineer supervisionPrepare and maintain packaging specifications, BOMs, and technical drawingsSupport CAD modeling and packaging structure updatesTesting & QualificationExecute packaging tests per ISTA/ASTM protocols (drop, vibration, compression, climate)Record, compile, and analyze test data; prepare test reportsAssist in packaging qualification documentation and ECO submissionsNPI & Sustaining SupportSupport NPI packaging activities including sample preparation and testingAssist in sustaining engineering tasks — ECOs, deviation requests, and change implementationsCoordinate with manufacturing teams on packaging-related issuesVendor CoordinationAssist in coordinating with packaging material suppliers for sample procurementSupport supplier qualification activities under senior engineer guidanceCompliance & QualityEnsure work is conducted in compliance with WD quality and safety standardsAssist in maintaining packaging documentation within WD QMSLearning & DevelopmentActively participate in training programs and technical workshopsShadow senior engineers on complex projects to build technical competenceTake ownership of assigned tasks and deliver on timeQualificationsRequired :      Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Materials, Industrial, or Packaging Engineering (or equivalent)0–2 years of working experienceFresh graduates are encouraged to applySkills :Internship experience in packaging, manufacturing, or engineering environment is an advantagePreferred :Basic knowledge of CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent)Understanding of engineering fundamentals (materials, mechanics, manufacturing)Familiarity with packaging concepts is a plus (not mandatory)Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)Final year project or internship related to packaging, product design, or manufacturingExposure to quality management systems (ISO, QMS)Basic knowledge of ESD handling for electronicsAdditional Information#LI-SK1  WD thrives on the power and potential of diversity.
