Accountabilities:
- Analyze existing backend services, APIs, and data flows to understand business logic, technical constraints, and modernization opportunities.
- Design and develop backend APIs for frontend applications using Node.js and TypeScript, including REST-based and backend-for-frontend (BFF) approaches.
- Lead the migration and refactoring of legacy services into maintainable, scalable, and well-tested backend solutions.
- Redesign data models and migrate data from legacy NoSQL systems to AWS-managed databases such as RDS or DocumentDB.
- Optimize database performance, access patterns, and application scalability.
- Implement asynchronous communication between services using messaging technologies such as Kafka, SQS, or RabbitMQ.
- Ensure backend systems meet security, reliability, performance, and scalability requirements.
- Develop and maintain unit, integration, and migration tests to support safe deployments and functional consistency.
- Improve system observability through effective logging, monitoring, and tracing practices.
- Contribute to architecture discussions, code reviews, technical documentation, and engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with frontend, product, and platform teams within an agile delivery environment.
- Master’s Degree in Computer Science or an equivalent technical discipline.
- 5 to 8 years of experience in backend software development.
- Strong expertise in Node.js and TypeScript development.
- Proven experience designing APIs for frontend applications, including REST APIs, BFF patterns, or contract-first approaches.
- Experience with legacy system migrations, large-scale refactoring, or platform modernization projects.
- Knowledge of Erlang-based systems is a plus but not mandatory.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, database architecture, and migration strategies.
- Experience migrating from NoSQL databases to AWS-managed solutions such as RDS or DocumentDB is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with messaging systems such as Kafka, SQS, RabbitMQ, or similar technologies.
- Good knowledge of AWS services and cloud-native application architectures.
- Strong understanding of backend security practices, including authentication, authorization, OAuth, JWT, IAM, and API protection.
- Strong testing mindset with experience in unit, integration, and migration testing.
- Fluent English communication skills required; additional language skills are a plus.
- Ability to work effectively in a transformation environment with a pragmatic, quality-focused approach.
