Accountabilities:
- Architect, design, and evolve scalable backend systems, platform services, and APIs using Python and modern backend technologies.
- Build and maintain distributed, data-intensive systems that deliver high performance, reliability, scalability, and operational excellence.
- Partner with data scientists and machine learning engineers to integrate AI and ML capabilities into production-ready backend infrastructure.
- Design secure data storage and retrieval solutions with strong emphasis on data integrity, privacy, governance, and resilience.
- Lead complex cross-functional engineering initiatives from technical discovery and architecture through implementation, launch, and long-term ownership.
- Produce clean, maintainable, well-tested, and observable code while continuously improving engineering standards, tooling, and development workflows.
- Collaborate with product, design, and engineering stakeholders to translate evolving business needs into scalable technical solutions.
- Mentor and support engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, architectural leadership, and engineering best practices.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements that strengthen platform capabilities, system performance, and developer productivity.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with deep expertise in backend development and distributed systems.
- Strong proficiency in one or more backend programming languages such as Python, Java, or Go.
- Proven experience designing, building, and operating highly scalable distributed systems and data-intensive services in production environments.
- Expertise in backend API development, service-oriented architectures, asynchronous processing, data modeling, and modern software design principles.
- Strong understanding of system scalability, fault tolerance, observability, performance optimization, and operational excellence.
- Experience building secure applications with robust approaches to privacy, access control, and data integrity.
- Demonstrated technical leadership across cross-functional initiatives, influencing architecture, engineering strategy, and execution.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, mentoring, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to lead through hands-on technical contribution.
- Curiosity for emerging technologies, including AI-enabled development practices, and a commitment to continuous learning and innovation.
- Competitive base salary based on geographic location:
- Zone A: $212,500–$255,000 USD
- Zone B: $200,000–$240,000 USD
- Zone C: $186,700–$224,000 USD
