About the role and team

Our Global Investigations team plays an essential role in safeguarding Uber's platform, employees, and community by tackling organized crime and internal misconduct. In this role, you will protect the integrity of our mission by driving high-stakes, sensitive investigations from initial triage to resolution. The environment is fast-paced, complex, and highly ambiguous, requiring you to balance analytical precision with deep human empathy.

This is not a typical corporate compliance role; you will be digging into massive datasets and conducting intense interviews to uncover hidden patterns of fraud and internal threats. It requires grit, relentless curiosity, and a deep sense of ownership to pull obscure data threads until they form an actionable case. If you are looking for a highly structured environment with predictable daily routines, or if you struggle with difficult interpersonal conversations, this role will not be a fit.

What you’ll do

  • Conduct end-to-end internal and external investigations into complex safety threats, fraud schemes, and sensitive employee misconduct cases.

  • Write and execute SQL queries to mine large, messy datasets, isolating subtle anomalies and pulling obscure technical threads to uncover organized threat patterns.

  • Lead high-stakes investigative interviews with employees, witnesses, and external parties, balancing professional skepticism with psychological safety and empathy.

  • Navigate internal complexity and cross-functional tension to align diverse stakeholders, translating deep technical findings into clear, objective insights.

  • Compile thorough, legally defensive case files and comprehensive reports to hand over actionable evidence directly to law enforcement and regulatory authorities.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in criminal justice, data analytics, legal studies, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience conducting corporate, fraud, or criminal investigations within a corporate or law enforcement setting.

  • Proficiency in writing SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and analyze large datasets for evidence generation.

  • Experience conducting corporate or investigative interviews, including handling sensitive matters such as employee misconduct.

  • Ability to fulfill local office attendance requirements under Uber’s hybrid work policy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience collaborating directly with international law enforcement agencies and preparing cases for criminal prosecution.

  • Proficiency in Python or other scripting languages for data analysis and investigative automation.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills with a track record of navigating cross-functional tension and influencing without authority.

  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a high-ambiguity environment and adapt investigative strategies as priorities shift.
