ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Mandatory Process Validations
- E2001 / CCT test panel preparations at CAT and CAT subsidiaries every 6 months.
- Requires 1–2 days per customer, translating to ~100 man‑days annually for ~50 customer lines.
- Complaint Handling & Troubleshooting
- High‑severity issues often extend beyond one week.
- Certain critical cases require round‑the‑clock monitoring across shifts.
- Example: CAT BCP MG Black popping/blister and inter‑coat adhesion failures, where continuous deputation of both technicians helped retain business that was under immediate threat.
- Business Protection Against Competition
- Increased competitive pressure from Axalta, following approval of their locally manufactured products.
- Axalta offers cost and performance advantages and has deployed dedicated representatives at CAT and CAT subsidiaries, heightening replacement risk
- Product Trials & Growth Initiatives
- Ongoing and upcoming trials for alternate paint systems to protect existing business.
- New business trials in progress or pipeline, including AGCO, Terex‑Genie, VST Tillers, ZF Wind Power, Bobcat, Uniparts, among others.
- Ongoing Customer & Commercial Support
- Regular visits to monitor competitor activity and maintain relationships with key decision‑makers.
- Paint inventory management at customer sites and regional warehouse.
- Payment follow‑ups and commercial coordination
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Utilizing industry and product (Liquid & Powder) applications concepts and procedures.
- Understanding of paint test methods, basic chemistry and their application methods.
- Applying expert principles and practices within an area or general principles and practices in multiple service areas.
- Providing technical guidance and advice to improve quality and efficiency.
- Working with line and management personnel.
- Communicating technical and operational concepts to facilitate sales.
- Providing technical customer service.
- Performing account management and sales activities.
- PC skills; Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); and other applications as required.
- Communicating with co-workers to provide and receive directions.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in science, Operations management or equivalent or higher education and experience.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
4 ~ 10 years of experience as a technical service representative, preferably in Heavy Equipment segment.
Should have product and application knowledge on different liquid & powder chemistries.
Minimum 2 years of experience towards managing customer production line independently.
Should be ready to travel outside Chennai.
