**Summary:**
The role of an MTM starts from the early concept phase of the Product Development Process (PDP) where they collaborate with Product Development (PD), Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME), and suppliers with development of a manufacturing process flow and intent. This translates into development of a Product Manufacturing Plan (PMP), line layout and Equipment/Fixture (E&F) plan that matures through the NPI cycle. MTM is responsible to ensure overall FATP line readiness to enable NPI builds and its execution, and is also accountable for key manufacturing metrics including first and last pass yield, cycle time study (UPH) and efficiency. MTM actively program manages and drives failure analysis and corrective actions (FACA) for Major Issues List (MIL) issues identified during the NPI builds to achieve these metrics. Technical, program management and leadership vectors are critical for an MTM to be successful, given that they are extremely cross-functional in their work and need to partner effectively and efficiently with internal and external stakeholders to deliver.
**Required Skills:**
Manufacturing Technical Manager Responsibilities:
1. Define and achieve Ops KPI (UPH, yield, & OEE) with inputs from the XFN Ops team during NPI builds
2. Develop PMP (Product Manufacturing Plan including the holistic manufacturing process flow, line layout, FA process flow, repair and rework process flow, HC, and QPL (CapEx quantity per line) estimations), communicate and drive the execution at T1 & T1.5 suppliers during NPI builds
3. Collaborate with the XFN team to drive SMT and FATP E&F schedule and line readiness by closely monitoring equipment delivery, line bring-up, and qualification to ensure that NPI builds stay on schedule
4. Manage Major Issue List (MIL, ) by hosting regular meeting, facilitating technical discussion to resolve open issues, driving Failure Analysis and Corrective Action (FA/CA) mainly focusing on PIL/TIL (Process/Test Issue List), and providing NPI Ops‘ coverage as single POC through collaboration with T1 & T1.5 suppliers and the cross-functional Reliability team during NPI & NTI builds
5. Functional yield bridge to help the XFN teams identify paths to improve and meet predefined yield targets
6. Collaborate with Operations Program Management (OPM), Process and Cost Engineering (PCE), and other cross-functional teams to ensure PMP and Line layout meet MVA target, and drive line cost savings through Capex & MVA reduction by utilizing yield bridge, UPH and OEE optimization. For example, MTMs will lead Ops cross-functional alignment on ROI analysis of automation versus manual processes (HC/MVA/CapEx optimization)
7. Drive FATP line station MES and IT readiness for station routing control and reporting, coordinate MES dry run by working with manufacturing partners and the XFN team
8. Develop & Optimize Line Layout (assembly, test & pack out line layout) through collaborating with T1 & T1.5 suppliers to ensure that material and resources flow efficiently
9. Drive UPH optimization by performing assembly line balancing, tester CT (Cycle Time) and retest rate reduction, and Overall Optimization of Equipment Efficiency (OEE)
10. Bring up and grow manufacturing partners’ industrial and manufacturing engineering capabilities focusing on yield reporting & bridge, Line layout & patrol, UPH and OEE optimization following best industry practices and adopting Meta’s approved templates (Ok2x checklist, yield bridge, etc…)
11. Travel up to 40% in Asia Pacific region
**Minimum Qualifications:**
Minimum Qualifications:
12. Minimum 8+ years of experience in Operations engineering activities
13. Demonstrated technical skills and experience, including a detailed understanding of Final Assembly, Test, Pack and SMT processes
14. Background driving China-based manufacturers, remotely and in-person
15. Experience in using process driven and analytical approaches to problem-solving (Six Sigma, 8D, FMEA, etc.)
16. Knowledge of Design of Experiments and analytical problem-solving approaches
17. Project management experience including planning, cost tracking, and on-time delivery (Planning, Cost, & Delivery)
18. Demonstrated experience in interpersonal and communication skills, Fluent in written and spoken Mandarin and English, as the role requires direct communication with China-based manufacturing partners and suppliers
19. Experience in operating in dynamic, fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
**Preferred Qualifications:**
Preferred Qualifications:
20. Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
21. Experience with manufacturing equipment DFM review
22. Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
23. Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
24. Knowledge on mechanical tolerance analysis
25. Understanding of display optical metrology and calibration is a plus
