THE POSITION
As a Director, Portfolio Management at Honeywell, you will play a critical role in managing the performance and lifecycle of our offerings. Your primary responsibilities will include assessing portfolio performance, conducting detailed analysis of segment attractiveness and Honeywell's position by region.
You will also be responsible for operating margin and delivery at the material and customer levels. Additionally, as a people leader, you will manage a team and be responsible for developing and supporting your team members, helping them perform at their best and driving change across the company. You will also play a key role in making portfolio choices with strategies such as "Core", "Maintain", "Harvest", and "Exit". You will be responsible for developing and implementing a portfolio blueprint with process improvements and new business models.
This role reports to Sr Director Product Management of Industrial Measurement and Control and matrix reports to the General Manager of Industrial Measurement and Control Greater China with the location of Shanghai, China.
Accountability
Product Strategy & Roadmap Development:
- Develop and refining the overall strategy for products or services.
- Understand market needs, competitive landscape, and internal capabilities to define the direction offerings should take.
- Create and maintain a product roadmap that outlines the features and enhancements to be delivered over time.
Develop and execute a comprehensive operations strategy for our product portfolio, aligned with business objectives and market needs. Define the vision, goals, and priorities for portfolio operations and drive execution across teams.
Innovation & Future Planning:
- Drive innovation within your product portfolio by identifying new market opportunities, emerging technologies, and customer needs.
- Collaborate with offering management team, R&D, ISC teams in the global and region to develop and test new product concepts.
- Plan for the future by anticipating market trends and evolving customer needs.
Product Lifecycle Management:
- Manage entire product lifecycle from ideation to end-of-life.
- Prioritize features, defining requirements, overseeing development, and managing product launches.
- Continuously evaluating product performance and iterating based on customer feedback and market dynamics.
- Oversee the entire product lifecycle, from ideation to launch and post-launch support. Ensure that products are delivered on time, within budget, and according to quality standards.
Revenue and Performance Management:
- Set and manage revenue targets for product portfolio.
- Monitor key performance metrics such as revenue, market share, customer acquisition, and retention.
- Analyze performance data to identify areas for improvement and drive revenue growth.
Market Research, Analysis & Competitive Analysis and Positioning:
- Conduct comprehensive market research to identify emerging trends, customer needs, and competitive threats.
- Analyze market data to inform product decisions and identify opportunities for growth.
- Gather insights through customer feedback, surveys, and usability testing to understand customer pain points and preferences.
- Monitor key performance metrics related to portfolio operations, such as project timelines, resource utilization, and customer satisfaction. Analyze performance data to identify trends, issues, and areas for improvement.
- Monitor competitors and industry trends to identify competitive threats and opportunities.
- Conduct competitive analysis to understand strengths, weaknesses, and differentiation points.
- Use information to refine product positioning and develop strategies to maintain a competitive advantage.
Cross-functional Collaboration, Stakeholder Management & Communication:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams such as engineering, design, sales, marketing, and customer support.
- Collaborate with teams to align priorities, timelines, and go-to-market strategies.
- Serve as the primary liaison between different departments to ensure effective communication and coordination.
- Build relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally including executives, customers, partners, and industry influencers.
- Keep stakeholders informed and engaged throughout the product lifecycle through regular updates and communication.
Customer Engagement & Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to understand their needs, gather feedback, and drive customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Engage with key customers through regular meetings, workshops, and events to gather insights and strengthen relationships.
- Manage relationships with external vendors and suppliers involved in product development and delivery. Negotiate contracts, track performance, and ensure compliance with service level agreements.
Process Optimization & Risk Management:
- Identify opportunities to streamline and optimize product development and delivery processes. Implement best practices and tools to improve efficiency, quality, and collaboration across teams.
- Identify and mitigate risks that may impact the successful delivery of product initiatives. Develop contingency plans and escalate issues as needed to ensure timely resolution.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain comprehensive documentation of product initiatives, including project plans, meeting notes, and status reports. Prepare regular updates and reports for stakeholders to communicate progress and identify any issues or risks.
Talent Development:
- Continuously build a strong offering management team across IMC Greater China.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in portfolio, product management and leadership across company functions leveraging substantial resources over long-time frames leading regional offering management team and cross functional teams navigated a matrix organization and delivered results through matrix organizations.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of expertise in managing a portfolio of products, projects, and investments.
- Proven track record in portfolio performance management and lifecycle management.
- Strong understanding of Master Data Management.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent strategic thinking and decision-making abilities.
- Experience in developing and implementing process improvements and new business models.
Ability to collaborate and influence stakeholders at all levels.
EDUCATION
- The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering or related field, an MBA is ideal.
