Senior QA Automation Engineer – Robot Framework and Squish UI Automation
Location: Omaha, NE (Onsite - 5 days a week)
We are seeking a Senior QA Automation Engineer with deep hands-on experience in UI automation to help drive product quality, test reliability, and release confidence. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain scalable automated test solutions across desktop, web, and embedded environments, with a strong preference for experience in Robot Framework and Squish UI Automation. This is a senior-level onsite opportunity for a quality-focused engineer who thrives in collaborative Agile teams and brings both technical leadership and a passion for building robust, maintainable automation frameworks.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain automated UI test frameworks for desktop, web, and embedded applications.
- Build reliable automated test suites that support smoke, regression, and end-to-end validation of product functionality.
- Create and maintain reusable automation assets including object mapping, verification points, and checkpoints.
- Improve automation coverage while reducing test fragility and increasing long-term framework maintainability.
- Partner closely with developers, QA engineers, and delivery stakeholders to identify issues early and improve overall product quality.
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies including backlog refinement, sprint planning, and team reviews.
- Engage early in requirements discussions to assess testability, automation feasibility, and potential quality risks.
- Investigate defects, support root cause analysis, and collaborate with engineering teams on timely issue resolution.
- Integrate automation workflows with source control and test management practices using tools such as Git, Jira, and Xray.
- Contribute to shared QA standards, test automation best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives across the team.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other QA engineers, helping elevate team capability and automation maturity.
- Support stable and repeatable test execution processes that strengthen release readiness and product confidence.
- Contribute to CI/CD-aligned automation practices using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps where applicable.
Qualifications
- 7–15 years of experience in Quality Assurance with strong hands-on expertise in test automation.
- Proven experience in UI automation across desktop, web, and embedded applications.
- Strong programming skills in Python and JavaScript.
- Solid experience in UI testing, GUI automation, object mapping, verification points, and checkpoints.
- Demonstrated success in building and maintaining scalable, stable, and reusable automated test frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with regression testing and smoke testing in fast-paced delivery environments.
- Proficiency with Git and test management tools such as Jira and Xray.
- Strong experience collaborating in Agile development environments.
- Ability to analyze complex issues, troubleshoot effectively, and drive practical solutions.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across engineering and delivery teams.
- Experience influencing QA standards, best practices, and automation strategy is highly valued.
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership and support to other QA engineers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Robot Framework .strongly preferred.
- Experience with Qt UI testing.
- Familiarity with CI/CD integration using Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
- Experience with Squish UI Automation (Preferred)
- Prior experience improving automation reliability, execution stability, and release confidence in enterprise-scale environments.
The base salary for this position is $ XXXX to $XXXX plus incentives that align with individual and company performance. Actual salaries will vary based on work location, qualifications, skills, education, experience, and competencies.
