Your Team Responsibilities
MSCI Index Data Operations (IDO) provides high-quality, differentiated, and scalable equity and multi-asset data solutions that power MSCI’s flagship products including Equity Indexes, Risk Models, ESG Ratings, and Analytics offerings.
The Vice President – Index Data Operations Projects & AI Transformation will play a strategic leadership role in driving end-to-end data product development, operational transformation, and AI-enabled innovation across Index Data Operations. This role requires a unique blend of deep content expertise in index and market data domains, strong technology and program management capabilities, and the ability to lead large-scale cross-functional initiatives. The ideal candidate will act as both a business/content expert and a technology-driven transformation leader, leveraging modern data engineering practices, AI-assisted workflows, analytics, and automation frameworks to enhance scalability, quality, and operational efficiency across the index data ecosystem. This role demands strong leadership in managing global stakeholders, driving strategic execution, enabling innovation, and ensuring robust governance and data integrity standards.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end delivery of new Index data products and operational capabilities from concept to production.
- Serve as a subject matter expert across Index Input Data domains including:
- Universe Management
- Shares & Free Float
- Corporate Actions
- Dividends
- Define scalable operating models and data governance standards for index data management.
- Partner with Product, Research, Technology, Analytics, and Operations teams to drive strategic product initiatives.
- Drive adoption of AI-enabled solutions and intelligent automation across Index Data Operations.
- Leverage AI-assisted analysis, anomaly detection, reconciliation, workflow optimization, and quality control frameworks with strong human oversight and governance.

- Analyze and interpret complex financial and index datasets to identify trends, exceptions, risks, and actionable insights.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and integrity of Index Input Data throughout the product lifecycle.
- Establish robust validation frameworks, control mechanisms, and operational governance standards.
- Collaborate closely with external data vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless data ingestion and quality assurance.
- Proactively identify process optimization opportunities and implement scalable operational improvements.
- Lead large-scale strategic programs and cross-functional initiatives across global teams.
- Onboarding of new vendors along end to end workflow management
- Develop and manage project roadmaps, execution plans, timelines, risk frameworks, and governance structures.
- Coordinate with senior leadership, Product teams, Technology, Data vendors, and external stakeholders.
- Facilitate executive-level reporting, governance reviews, and strategic decision-making forums.
- Effectively manage competing priorities and multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Establish strong project governance and risk management practices to minimize operational and delivery risks.
- Prepare executive dashboards, status reports, and strategic presentations for senior leadership.
- Ensure comprehensive documentation of workflows, operational procedures, decisions, and transformation initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement in reporting frameworks, operational KPIs, and performance metrics.
Your skills and experience that will help you excel
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related disciplines.
- Preferred qualifications include MBA, CFA, FRM, CA, MMS, or equivalent.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in:
- Financial Services
- Capital Markets
- Index/Data Operations
- Analytics & Transformation Programs
- Proven leadership experience in managing complex enterprise-wide programs and strategic data initiatives.
- Strong understanding of Index and Market Data ecosystems.
- Hands-on experience in:
- Python Programming
- Data Analytics & Automation
- AI/ML-enabled operational solutions
- Data Visualization tools such as Power BI/Tableau
- Experience working with modern data platforms, APIs, automation tools, and workflow orchestration frameworks is preferred.
- PMP, Agile, Scrum, or similar project/program management certifications are a plus.
