Architect, Modular Infrastructure & Industrialized Construction
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is seeking an Architect, Modular Infrastructure & Industrialized Construction to drive the next generation of modular infrastructure solutions for OCI's rapidly expanding portfolio of GW-scale data center campuses.
This is a highly strategic individual contributor role responsible for fundamentally transforming how OCI designs, manufactures, and deploys critical infrastructure. The successful candidate will identify opportunities to replace traditional field-built construction with standardized, factory-built, and pre-integrated infrastructure solutions that dramatically improve deployment speed, reduce cost, improve quality, and increase scalability.
Working across Design Engineering, Product Engineering, Engineering Systems, Construction, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Commissioning, and Operations, this engineer will develop innovative modular solutions spanning mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, and integrated infrastructure systems. The role requires both deep technical expertise and creative problem solving to challenge conventional construction methods and industrialize OCI's infrastructure delivery model.
This individual will serve as a technical leader responsible for identifying breakthrough opportunities in modularization, evaluating emerging manufacturing technologies, developing engineering concepts, and partnering with OEMs and manufacturing organizations to bring new solutions into production.
This role will establish a new paradigm for how OCI designs and delivers hyperscale infrastructure. By industrializing construction through modular engineering, skidding, and factory-integrated systems, it will drive faster deployment, lower costs, higher quality, and scalable infrastructure platforms that become a competitive advantage across OCI's global AI portfolio.
What you'll do
Modular Infrastructure Innovation
• Lead the development of innovative modular infrastructure solutions that significantly reduce construction schedules, installation complexity, and deployment cost.
• Challenge conventional construction methods by identifying opportunities to shift work from the field into controlled manufacturing environments.
• Develop engineering concepts that improve constructability while maintaining or improving operational performance, reliability, and maintainability.
Off-Site Manufacturing & Skidded Systems
• Develop standardized skidded, prefabricated, and factory-integrated infrastructure solutions supporting OCI's GW-scale data center deployments.
• Evaluate opportunities for off-site assembly across mechanical plants, electrical distribution systems, piping assemblies, controls packages, cooling systems, and integrated equipment modules.
• Define engineering requirements supporting Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Design for Off-Site Manufacturing (DfOSM).
• Partner with manufacturing organizations to optimize factory integration, logistics, transportation, and field installation.
Product Development & Engineering
• Develop engineering concepts for modular products that can be deployed consistently across OCI's global infrastructure portfolio.
• Collaborate with Design Engineering to integrate modular products into standardized facility designs.
• Work with Product Engineering and OEM partners to influence future product architectures supporting modular deployment.
• Support product qualification, engineering validation, and continuous improvement activities.
Manufacturing & Supplier Collaboration
• Partner with OEMs, contract manufacturers, and strategic suppliers to develop factory-built infrastructure solutions.
• Evaluate supplier manufacturing capabilities and identify opportunities to increase factory integration.
• Participate in prototype development, pilot programs, factory acceptance testing (FAT), and manufacturing validation.
• Influence supplier technology roadmaps to support OCI's long-term modularization strategy.
Schedule & Cost Optimization
• Identify engineering opportunities that significantly reduce project schedules, labor requirements, and deployment costs.
• Develop business cases demonstrating the value of modularization through improved installation productivity, reduced commissioning, higher first-pass quality, and lower lifecycle cost.
• Evaluate innovative construction methodologies, manufacturing processes, and emerging technologies that improve deployment efficiency.
• Establish metrics measuring schedule reduction, labor savings, quality improvements, and cost avoidance.
Technical Leadership
• Serve as a subject matter expert for industrialized construction, modular infrastructure, and manufacturing-driven engineering.
• Lead technical evaluations of new products, manufacturing techniques, and infrastructure concepts.
• Provide engineering guidance during design reviews, prototype development, and deployment planning.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Partner closely with Design Engineering, Product Engineering, Engineering Systems, Construction, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Commissioning, and Operations.
• Work with project teams to identify modularization opportunities during early design phases.
• Collaborate with field teams to capture lessons learned and continuously improve modular infrastructure solutions.
• Represent OCI in technical engagements with suppliers, engineering firms, manufacturing partners, and industry organizations.
What you'll bring
• 12+ years of experience in mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, product, or infrastructure engineering.
• Experience designing or deploying modular, prefabricated, or factory-built infrastructure systems.
• Strong understanding of mission-critical mechanical and electrical infrastructure.
• Experience working with OEMs, manufacturing organizations, or industrial equipment suppliers.
• Demonstrated ability to lead highly technical cross-functional initiatives without direct organizational authority.
• Proven record of developing innovative engineering solutions that improve cost, quality, or schedule.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with hyperscale data centers or other mission-critical infrastructure.
• Experience designing skidded mechanical systems, prefabricated electrical assemblies, modular cooling plants, or integrated equipment packages.
• Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), Lean Manufacturing, or industrialized construction.
• Familiarity with factory acceptance testing (FAT), commissioning, and manufacturing quality systems.
• Experience supporting large-scale infrastructure deployment programs.
