What You Will Do:
Guidehouse is seeking a Health Communications Senior Associate to support CDC and other federal health agency communications, digital engagement, and public health outreach initiatives. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience supporting federal health agency (e.g., CDC) digital communications programs and will develop, execute, and evaluate communication products and strategies that advance public health priorities.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop and implement communication strategies, messaging, and outreach plans for CDC and other federal health programs.
- Create and manage digital content, including website and intranet content, newsletters, social media, presentations, briefing materials, and executive communications.
- Translate complex scientific and public health information into clear, audience-centered communications.
- Coordinate with program leaders, scientists, staff, and stakeholders to develop communication products and campaigns.
- Support content governance, editorial review, and communication clearance processes.
- Monitor communication performance and digital analytics to inform content improvements.
- Support website modernization, content migrations, digital engagement initiatives, and content management activities.
- Ensure all products comply with agency, HHS, Section 508, health literacy, and plain language requirements.
What You Will Need:
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Health Communication, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English, or related field.
- 4+ years of professional health communications experience.
- Direct experience supporting CDC digital communications programs, including development and management of content for CDC.gov, digital campaigns, social media, newsletters, or other CDC communication channels.
- Experience working within CDC communication review, clearance, and approval processes.
- Experience developing communication products for public health, scientific, or technical audiences.
- Strong writing, editing, stakeholder engagement, and project management skills.
- Experience applying health literacy, plain language, and audience-centered communication principles.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and SharePoint.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance (i.e. US Citizenship required).
What Would Be Nice To Have:
- Master's degree in Public Health, Health Communication, Communications, or related field.
- Experience with CDC Digital First Editor (DFE) or other federal content management systems.
- Knowledge of CDC Clear Communication Index methodologies.
- Experience with digital analytics, content strategy, SEO, or website modernization efforts.
- Experience supporting public health emergency communications or risk communications.
- Experience developing multimedia, graphic, or video communication products.
