JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary
The Welder Assistant performs a variety of duties to assist the Welder under the supervision and direction of the Maintenance Supervisor.
Essential Functions

1. Operates a variety of tools to clean and cut metals (i.e. grinder, chop saw)
2. Uses additional equipment to cut and heat metals (i.e. oxygen/acetylene torch, plasma cutter)
3. Keeps the work area clean and organized
4. Must be able to stand between 2 – 3 hours at a time.
5. Must be willing to follow all GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) of the company which include but are not limited to: use of a hair net, use of a company approved frock, no jewelry, no nail polish or artificial nails, no shorts, no open-toed shoes, no ripped clothing or rhinestones/glitter on clothing, no chewing gum, candy or tobacco.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to cold and hot temperatures both inside and outside the plant. The employee may be required to work in congested areas and must use caution while operating equipment through tight spaces.

The employee must often lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Frequent use/motion of hands, wrists and arms are required
The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch or bend.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. 40+ hours per week.
Hours of work: Monday through Friday, start and finish time varies depending on workload.
10 – 12 hour work days are common. Weekends and overtime hours are often required. Schedule is subject to change with or without advance notice.
